My Wii used to do that every so often (freezing, weird buzzing sound, have to unplug)...and it finally DRE'd permanently a year ago. Probably what happened to your Friend's Wii. Hopefully he has his stuff saved on a SD card, since he'll probably be getting a new Wii. Contact Customer support, ship it to them, they give you a new model back

EDIT: I don't know why you guys think the Wii can get Viruses in the same way PCs do, because it can't.

I have to admit, the 3DS line-up...is basically all remakes

I got caught up in the hysteria, and I'm still going to buy most of those remakes like the lapdog I am

but having to "save the day" with what they offered...

And the Wii...no body payed attention to the Wii besides Skyward Sword and Kirby

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Sin and Punishment: Star successor

Red Steel 2

And seeing how OP mentioned that he/she's always been a part of the SDF, I'm sure there's plenty of great games on the VC that you've never played
