Blockbuster is having a early black friday sale for the next 3 days, all drinks in store are 39 cents and any used movies or games 14.99 or below if you buy 5 you get em all for 29.99

am I the only one who didn't have a problem with the controller setup for the gamecube?

C-stick worked alright for me and I could care less if the design looked clunky

So I might as well post this here since its related to game programming

I'm currently doing a 4 year degree in Computer Science but i'm doing general stuff first(English 101,etc).

So while I'm waiting for the real classes to begin, I thought I try to understand and learn to do a simple 2D game engine in C++

any suggestions or sources on where to get started?

oh god no, it's an amazing idea but i'm already picturing myself snapping as i play through it :lol:

I'd also like to have a Majora's Mask-type game that went all-out with time progression. Like really complex event trees.

...and there would be an acorn that grows into a tree as time progresses :P

Ha, yeah, anytime her icon pops up it's just like "Nope, not pressing down!" 7 hours in now, just got to the Fire Temple, game is typical Zelda to me, only it definitely feels improved on TP in a lot of ways. Also, the dowsing thing, why the hell was that guy at GT annoyed by it so much, does it get way worse later on or something? Yeah, I like dowsing. I think the hate for it derives from the hate for the awful Kikwi hide-and-seek mandatory minigame. I think that the dungeons are typical Zelda, but they KILLED the overworld exploration. Lots of developers have gotten hate this generation for turning their free-roam games linear and it finally happened to Zelda.

To Action or Bob, Are the dungeons well-designed and provide good difficulty? Just curious since its basically the entire game

This is the part of the interview you should focus on:

What would you like to see Zelda change in it's formula? More freedom. The strange thing is, The Legend of Zelda (the first game in the series) had this freedom, and the series just went away from it through the years. Part of the problem is that you're confined in a linear path, shuffled from one dungeon to the next, with only cursory exploration. Recent Zelda games are adventures that have you on a leash the whole time. I wish they would remove the leash. Let me enter dungeons out of order. Give me multiple ways to access off-the-path routes, so if I don't have the hookshot yet, I can still use my bombs to open up a road. Make me feel as if I'm forging my own path rather than just doing exactly what the developer wants, when they want it. Skyward Sword is predictable and lacks a sense of adventure because everything is so structured and confined. Your experience is going to be nearly identical to mine. Everyone will take the same path, see the same enemies, solve puzzles the same way, and so on and so forth. I'd love to see Nintendo use The Legend of Zelda as a blueprint for their next game rather than Ocarina for the umpteenth time. ActionRemix

I honestly don't know why you and Tom Mcshea didn't expect this would be a linear Zelda.

Other than being surprised by the skyloft exploration is dull commentary, I've been expecting this to be a linear adventure ever since they stated that the whole overworld would act like a dungeon. If you guys have been following the previews, why are you so suprised?
