@bachuck: I disagree. It's very relevant to the gaming industry and is gaming news.
a very popular developer, in another country, is concerned of the current political climate and how that could affect the industry. Will prices go up? will censorship increase? will Eastern and Western markets meld or separate further?
If anything, they showed restraint by leaving the question/response vague as "interested" and "afraid."
Awesome! Though this seems like it would be a better title for Episode 9? "Jedi" or "Sith" has been the final act in each trilogy. Unless this is the super-depressing 2nd act where things get really bad... hmm...
@ariyan-hm: To be fair to Zenimax, it doesn't sound like a case of "see the value of vr they want their toys back" it's more of a case of they WERE working on VR and Carmack taking his stuff with him set them way back in R&D to the point they can't compete.
@bigcrusha: This is it. Nintendo went after the "blue ocean" of casuals and non-gamers because they couldn't compete in the "red ocean" of PS3 and Xbox 360. And it worked - for a few years. But guess what casuals and non-gamers do not do, by their very definition? they don't buy games. they had their "fix" from the Wii Sports and a few other big hits like Mario Kart and Smash Bros - and that's it. Even Skyward Sword underperformed.
Why? because, like you said, the casuals and non-gamers moved on to smartphones and tablets. Nintendo tried to hit that market again with the Wii U, and missed terribly.
Which leads to the Switch - will it hit or miss? Who is it aiming at, the red or blue ocean? I'm >< close to pulling the trigger and pre-ordering one JUST FOR LOZ but then I watch these videos of how uncomfortable it is to hold, and how LOZ has performance issues, and I just can't take that $400 risk!
@Sepewrath: There's a difference between "look very small" and holding the Switch and the JoyCons and saying "holy crap these are tiny and uncomfortable to hold or use."
