I'm actually feeling pretty pumped about this. Getting burned by BF3 and BF4 I got pretty cynical. But playing BF1 at E3 got my hyped again. If they can pull off a smooth launch and back it up with constant new content, I'll be happy!
Maybe they can pull a "Days of Future Past" with some crazy time travel and fix the DCCU timeline.
start in the future where Apokolips has taken over the earth, with dark Superman's help, as featured in Batman's weird dream/vision in BvS. the past event they have to fix?
make Superman less of a brooding d-bag. intervene with his adopted parents to be the Clarks from the comics, not the cynical world-hating weirdos they were in Man of Steel.
this in turn makes Superman, well, SUPERMAN and he leads the corrected DCCU as the motivating, inspiring SYMBOL that he is supposed to be. sure, still have him die in a fight with Doomsday, but there is no reason that an OLD Batman meets d-bag Superman in the "real" DCCU for the first time in BvS. They were supposed to have met at least a decade before that. Batman, and many other DC characters were inspired by Superman in the "real" timeline. Make that happen!
Many people have already dropped physical media for movies and music, and instead stream content through Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc.
Unfortunately, getting 4K media content through streaming just isn't possible in many places that don't support that type of internet bandwidth.
the TVs are getting cheaper, more content is becoming available, but meeting the streaming demands might take awhile. BUT I think you're right, gaming will surpass movies as people are still buying physical media for gaming.
Spot on review. this came out of nowhere, troubled production, and is exactly the course correction the DC movie universe needs.
don't get me wrong, I don't think ever DC movie needs to copy its tone, just like the tone of each of the Marvel movies are slightly different. BUT what this movie gets RIGHT is that it, well, gets so much RIGHT! Harley, especially, is torn right out of Batman: The Animated Series. and this review is right, you DO end up cheering for the bad guys, it's fantastic!!
I'm not talking about lifespan, I'm talking about gaps between generations.
PS came out in 1994
PS2 came out in 2000 - that's only SIX year gap.
PS(One) was discontinued in 2004 - THERE is your 10 year life span.
PS3 came out in 2006 - SIX year gap between PS2 and PS3.
PS2 was discontinued in 2010 - 10 year lifespan.
PS4 came out in 2013 - SEVEN year gap between PS3 and PS4.
Xbox came out in 2001
Xbox 360 came out in 2005 - FOUR year gap.
Xbox One came out in 2013 - EIGHT year gap.
THAT is what I'm talking about. people remember that 8 year gap and think that was common, but it really really was not!
We can even do Nintendo:
NES (USA) 1985
SNES (USA) 1991 - SIX year gap.
N64 came out in 1996 - only a FOUR year gap.
GameCube 2001 - FIVE year gap.
Wii came out in 2006 - FIVE year gap.
Wii U released 2012 - SIX year gap.
Clearly, releasing a NEW GENERATION after only 4 years is NOT that big of a deal.
edit: You're right, I did say "no other generation lasted that long" in my original post, but I meant the gap between, not the total length of a generation.
