[QUOTE="TheMISCMan48"][QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"] All those games were also good (well, critically acclaimed), so it's not like they didn't deserve good sales.DroidPhysX

Again, I fully acknowlege their quality. I just find it rediculous and ignorant when people act like Halo 3's sales mean something compared to games like Killzone 3. Or even more importantly, 360 fans seem to think sales make Halo more fun than uncharted 2, when its almost unanimously agreed by every possible yardstick that it is inferior to Uncharted 2 (if we go by critical acclaim that is). Its like they think the sales make up for having inferior graphics and polish.

9.5 = 9.5

Am i missing something here?

I was going by Gamerankings/Metacritic numbers, but thats the same thing IM saying. 9.5=9.5. It is 360 fanboys who are saying that that isnt true lol. To them 9.5+10 million sales > 9.5 + 4 million sales.

[QUOTE="Sp4rtan_3"]New account to troll :? the only game there with AAA material is Littlebigplanet 2 IMO

Lol gamespots definition of "Trolling" means to offend or annoy other users intentionally. If you are "offended" on a personal level by anything someone says about a peice of plastic, then you need to get your priorities in life in order. Anyways, every single game I listed is pretty much undisputed AAA quality save for Resistance 3 and Motorstorm. And motorstorm is very high quality based off the previews and footage seen so far.

[QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"][QUOTE="TheMISCMan48"]Halo 3 had more than $200 million spend on marketing over its lifetime, Modern Warfare 2 had a $250 Million LAUNCH advertisement campaing (and id imagine even more was spent on after launch) compared to Killzone 2's measely $4 million marketing budget. So it is foolish to always compare halo to every damn game that comes out. STOP HYPING SALES THEY DONT MEAN ANYTHING. The reason games like Wii fit, Wii sports, Modern Warfare 2, Halo, and Gran Turismo sold like that is because of the marketing campaign. Give Killzone 2 a $250 Million + marketing campaing and you can bet your ass it will do Modern Warfare 2 numbers (relative to one console). Why dont people understand this? The game's sales have to do with how much the publisher is willing to spend, and how large of a campaign they are willing to prepare for their game. Now I understand quality comes into play, but when you are comparing AAA titles, the quality is undisputed. Otherwise, they would not be AAA. If Sony wants Killzone 3 to sell Halo Reach numbers, they have to MAKE it sell Halo Reach numbers. People buy what they are TOLD to buy, and like what they are TOLD to like. simple as that. Ive just noticed that 360 fanboys are falling back on sales as hard as ever now that they are backed into a corner.

Have you got a link to back up those numbers? Anjunaddict

Call of Duty [Modern Warfare 2] cost $40 million to $50 million to produce, people close to the project said, about as much as a mid-size film. Including marketing expenses and the cost of producing and distributing discs, the launch budget was $200 million, on par with a summer popcorn movie -- and extremely high for a video game. While the $55 million spent on making Halo 3 pales into insignificance compared to the $200 million Microsoft reportedly spent on marketing the game.

Crysis sold 2.5 million or more with zero advertising.

Its not nearly as black and white as you'd like to believe.

The PC gaming industry is also MUCH more hardcore of a market. For instance, PC gamers are almost ALL fully aware of everything on their platform alot more than anyone else. Most people who take the time to build an expensive ass rig, will also take the time and effort into finding out the best games. Not saying that they are "nerds" or anything, but most of them spend alot of time on the internet, and are a very hardcore and vocal community. Console users hare different. A small majority of them belong to the hardcore gaming community, and would ever post on a forum like this. They are MUCH less aware of what their console has to offer. Most of them are parents who buy their console for their children, and most of them just buys the games that pop culture tells them to, I.E. Modern Warfare 2, Halo....... When Halo 3 came out, a buddy of mine just around the corner who is very loose with his money ran out and bought it at midnight launch. Never played a halo game in his life, and didnt even really game like that. months later, he tells me he barely even playes it, never even played the campaign more than like 30 mintues, and thought it was overhyped trash. Not saying that the quality isnt there, I fully acknowlege the game's quality, but he bought the game blindly just because friggin MTV and mountain dew told him he should.

[QUOTE="TheMISCMan48"]In November, the PS3 gets Gran Turismo 5 and littlebigplanet 2 (both confirmed AAA) -then in February Cows get Killzone 3, Motorstorm Appocalypse (Both will be AAA) -and to wrap it up, in Spring (April-May) we get Infamous 2 (guaranteed AAA) -all the while, 360 only gets Halo Reach and Gears 3 in that same timeframe. -to add insult to injury, we also get The Last Guardian (guarranteed AAA), Agent (made by the GTA team, so guarranteed AAA) and Resistance 3 (this game will get so much support from sony's dream team it's not even funny, considering insomniac helped with all of sony's graphical powerhouse games, both uncharteds, gow3 and kz2/3), and the inevitable Uncharted 3 all within the same year. The nice thing about all those games is that the majority are not only graphics kings, but they will be unmatched by ANYTHING Microsoft can do in terms of production values, and will get the same level of praise Uncharted 2 got. All the while MS gets 2 AAA's while we get like 7. Is there any denying that momentum favors Sony right now? NanoMan88

But wont Reach and Gears 3 sell more than all those games combined and when everyone has stopped playing those games 360 owners will still be playing Reach and Gears?

. I like how lemmings reject this logic every time there is a Forza vs Gran turismo debate lol. And lol @ reach outselling gran turismo 5. Reguardless, damn I really wish I was a lemming, then maybe I can recieve some money from halo and gears sales. Anyways, sales are Indocative of NOTHING more, than the size of a games marketing campaign. When are lemmings going to get this through their heads?

Motorstorm won't get AAA

J-WOW
why does everyone say this? We cant rule out the possibility, the game looks 8.5-9 worthy, yeah the game will probably get an 8.5 but the chance of it getting a 9 is still there

^this. The last game got 8.5 lol its not like it got 7. People like to look at the previous scores instead of looking at the actual game itself for what it is. There is enough improvements going off of the previews to warrant AAA hype. Personally, as a cow I care more about this than I do Gran Turismo 5, and stand fully confident in its AAA hype. This game is so underrated around these parts it's rediculous. Most of te people who doubt it have never played motorstorm, or even read a single preview for the game. They just blindly shun it out of console loyalty. Other than motorstorm, there really isn't any debate that any of those games up there will be AAA or not, save for resistance. But you have to remember, optimism favors ALL of these games, going off of what sony's first party studios are doing now.

http://www.gamerzines.com/ps3/news/motorstorm-apocalypse-date-feb.html I am looking more foreward to this than I am GT5 tbh. People really underestimate the motorstorm franchise. But it is good to know that we get 2 AAA's in one month (motorstorm apocalypse, Killzone 3), and then just after that we get another one (Infamous 2) this game has AAA on lockdown
