And most current pc games look far worse then Crysis 1, There is a reason why Rage gets much graphical praise at the shows and this is done by journalist many of which who have access to high end pc's. People are under the impression that they live in some box and can only play games on consoles and the fact people think that is hillarious to me. These are the same guys that play Crysis on high end rigs they have seen Wticher 2 and they have played Metro 2033 on DX11 and guess what? At the end of the day they still mention how amazing Rage looks on 5 year old hardware?

Why is this? Because the pc community cant support your average 3rd party dev enough for them to shell out the cost it would take to make a big budget exclusive. Dont blame ID blame pc gamers .. End of story.

AnnoyedDragon

If there is one form of SW hypocrisy I dislike the most, it is the people who criticise PC for things that are equally applicable to consoles.

So, where are all these 3rd party big budget titles for consoles? Given they apparently support 3rd party development more, were as us PC gamers do not. Last I checked, consoles are highly reliant on 1st party funding to get any big budget development support.

I don't see any evidence that consoles attract 3rd party exclusive development better than PC. Only they have a 1st party to spend whatever it takes to create the false impression; that big budget developers actually want to remain exclusive to their platform.

You had them last generation , you lost them because they can no longer support themselves on the pc. Hell sony can spend millions on UC2 and still make profit why cant a third party company do the same? You see other big budget games only going ps3/360 and completley leaving out the pc and why is that?

Erm...I'm not blaming id Software. Maybe I didn't make it clear enough. I'm not bashing them. I know why they did that. I realize a SP-driven big budgeted FPS can't be PC focused, especially if it's done by american developer.

That said...why in God's name you think it means I should actually praise them? FOr what? Just because market forced them to build the game this way doesn't magically make it less outdated. Just because they don't deserve to be based for makign the game with this visual quality does't suddenly mean trhey deserve to be praised for it.

Why are you acting like there are only two choices here: bash them to hell or praise them to heaven? THere's a lot in between those two options.

I didnt say you had to bash or praisethem but thefact of the matter is you act like they are in the stone age when in fact its still among the best looking games to come out for the pc eventhough its also one of the best looking games on consoles. Im sorry you didnt get your next benchmark which is what I guess you expected? But to say the game is graphically behind is hillarious to me . I think it blows alot of other recent big budget pc titles out of the water from a technical standpoint.

[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="KalDurenik"]Looks like low and some settings on medium. KalDurenik
Not quite low. Looks more like medium @ 720p.

Some settings are very very low for example there is close to no AA (you see it here and there and its abit hard to spot due to the blurry camera and the blur settings in the game :P

That video is nowhere near the quality for you to make that out. The devs and the people that saw it said its equivelent to medium .

3 years of sales vs 3 monthes , wow thats fair. Not to mention I thought Crysis 2 was still a really good game. Its amazing how people want devs to do bad pc gamers are so bitter. If you want to root against someone have it be activison and COD not Crytek.

Not really. it does look good, but it's hardly even the best looking game out there. And considering this isn't some random developer, but id Software to see their new game come out and not raise any graphical bars is just plain dissapointing

AdrianWerner

You're stretching it, there. Very few games are looking better than Rage at the moment, and of those that are, few look as big in scope, reverent in tiny detail, or rocking the 60 fps id software is boasting.

As a PC gamer I'm sure you're a little bit more educated than the console masses. To say that id Software is not raising any graphical bars is just plain silly. Are you impressed with the smoke-and-mirror engines such as MT Framework which powered games such as Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2? Games which looked absolutely brilliant in screenshots, but when you interact with the world, it feels incredibly fake and intangible?

There's a lot of stuff happening under Rage's hood, and it's impressive. Any developer can create a small corridor, few enemy, post-processing heavy video game that looks superficially pretty (from Guerilla Games, 4A Games, Action Forms), but it takes id Software to make a quasi-sandbox title that runs butter-smooth and still looks as good as it does.

I'm sorry, but the game looks slightly worse than Crysis 1 and has smaller scale...a 4 years old game. So no it's not impressive. As a PC gamer you should be well aware of that. iD software got stuck in 2007 and never movede beyond that point even an inch. While what they achieved with that is pretty nice, they deserve no praise for doing anything impressive, because they simply did not.

it's hard to believe some folks were really confused PS3 with average PC's not to mention "high end" ones.

Or those people never played a PC game before.

I play on a pc all the time and Rage looks better then most pc games . Thats a fact and the reason why it makes so many hermits butt hurt makes no sense to me.

Upgrade your PC then and stop trying to play recent games on your 15 yea old Hewlet Packard.

A GTX285 isnt anywhere near 15 years stop posting on topics you are clueless about , thanks.

[QUOTE="Inconsistancy"] We're upset? And PC IS light years ahead, it's not a delusion, here

John Carmack talking about it.. and a bunch of other stuff, 20m interview. (the power of the pc isn't the primary focus of the interview.)

ducati101

If you look at pc games and console games and you think there light years ahead you are delusional. Sorry but thats a fact . Power wise PC has a massive advantage but you do not see it in terms of real life visual diffrences. The only time you are going to see pc games look light years ahead is if Microsoft and Sony build powerful next gen consoles which allow pc games to be deveoped with a higher minimum spec.

Man your just trying too hard now, sad. :(

Im not trying hard at all im just stating basic facts at this point and its painfully obvious.

I don't understand why are all the hermits getting so upset...the PC is not light years ahead of the PS3 as the delusional hermits want you to believe. Aside from increased resolution, AA/AF, you are getting the exact same consolized to PC ports.

Art design king =/= graphics king. Graphics is a purely technical term.GhoX

Then Crysis 2 is in trouble compared to other top console titles as it drops well below 30fps and is in sub HD. Its still a great looking game and easily in the top 5 but its not the best.
