@SauhlGood @TheWatcher000 You Know, this is something that is never addressed amongst out hate and angst very much, and it is a very important point.
At some point We The People have got to take and accept our responsibility in this evolving nightmare. Because they would not be able to keep doing this unless some sort of revenue was being derived from it.
The only way we will ever win is to STARVE THEM TO DEATH, and not give them the revenue they need to keep doing this nonsense.
In a sense, it starts with us. We can't depend wholly on their mismanagement to bring them down.
At this point, they are so evil they would probably actually get a Bailout from the Government.
I Found this In the Comments in a Real Racing 3 Article on CNET. IF This person's calculations and findings are correct, THIS is where EA wants to take Gaming.
Take the Time to Read The Whole Comment. IF anywhere NEAR Accurate, this is why EA must be eradicated completely from This Industry.
It's Time For Them To Go. (NOTE: The Comment Below is NOT MINE. It was found on CNET)
Freemium is going to be the death of the system.
So EA released Real Racing 3, all in all a pretty solid game, one I would have even been willing to throw as much as $25 at. In my opinion that's quite a fair chunk of change for a phone game. Here-in lies the problem. The game itself is free, they charge you for little things like instant servicing of your car or delivery of a new one. Some of the cars can take well over a day to be delivered after you spend the in-game cash on them. So I set about with a goal. I wanted to uncover approximately how much it would cost a new player, who is also a completionist in racing games (likes having all the cars and having them all painted and fully upgraded) to obtain without waiting for things to be done. After digging around in some files I found what to edit and how and here are my findings:
Car and upgrade purchases: Approximately 51 million in-game cash. That is a HELLUVA lot of playing for months and months and months or a quick trip to the IAP store for a total of 899.99 Euros. This purchase would be sufficient to acquire about 40 of the 46 cars (the others are purchasable with Gold) and pay for all of the non Gold upgrades to the cars.
Convenience purchases (not having to wait for upgrades / cars to be delivered) and Repaints of most of the vehicles as well as the few Gold only cars and upgrades: A whopping 19128 Gold. This is obtainable as a pittance on leveling up or a quick trip to the IAP store for a total of... 1709.81 Euros!
This brings the approximate total on IAP in this game to 2609.80 Euros (read $3409.96 USD). The numbers are approximated as I played the game a bit here and there in-between my study and made / spent some money on stuff.
This is an absolutely ridiculous amount of cash required to play any game much less one on a phone. Some of the achievements are locked to people that fully upgrade 40 of the cars! The greed of game companies has gotten absolutely disgusting these days. I miss when games were good because the companies needed money. Now they are mediocre / ok because the companies have gotten fat and just want more. Electronic Arts has for the longest time been the bad guy in the system and now more-so than ever they are at the forefront of *************. If i were to invest the time to grind up 2 million bucks in this phone game, to purchase a car... just to be told I have to wait 1 day 20 hours to be able to play with it... or pay like 75 gold to have it delivered now... I'd be pissed. This is just wrong on their part, which is why I won't feel bad about not spending a dime on their game and having full access to 100% of the content. The way I see it, I signed no EULA or TOS through the entire setup process therefore I was free to edit files on my device as I saw fit.
46 pixel cars and 923 video game upgrades sans waiting for that amount of money... **** EA. Posted by OutlawJenner (1 comment ) March 15, 2013 6:19 PM (PDT)
@petez34 @IndremaLover @Whiskey3romeo Yes, they are so "Successful" that they were delisted from the Nasdaq in December, continue to have bad Quarterly Results, and their major franchises have declining sales from one game to the next.
EA does a terrific job of putting on a good Public face and fraudulent facade, while continuing to crumble within, as they have been steadily doing for the past few years.
But they can still convince some that their company is a delicious bar of Godiva Chocolate, as opposed to a Pile Of Dogshit.
The Fact that Patcher is still in this business is proof of how badly this industry needs a purge. He couldn't run a Bowling Alley from 1 till 7 in the Morning.
@queuing_for_PS4 @elgordofreeman You've been playing PC Games since the 1980's? You're completely full of shit, kid.
Some of the Greatest Games ever made the past 20 years were PC EXCLUSIVES.
And I'm Quite sure if you actually were a PC Gamer during the 90's you'd remember how many great games were made even greater by the Mod Communities that created THOUSANDS of Maps, Levels, And TC's that not only expanded the live of said games, they sometimes RIVALED the Quality of the Original game itself. It was A Wild, Open Frontier, The Golden Age, free of the The DLC, Pay To Win, and other Parasitic Business Models that Console Gamers have to endure.
And this comes from someone Who not only owns a OC, but every single fucking Console back to the Fairchild Channel F, and has been an avid Console gamer since 1976.
BOTH Platforms have produced wonderful things. This Silly "War" that people fight between the two is NONSENSE.
