why don't you buy the 60GB model then you're garanteed that it will work. I am playing God of War 2 on my 60GB, and it is one of the best games ever invented. I heard that the 80GB model will play almost 88% of PS2 games but not sure why only 88%, but I am sure with a very popular game like GOW, you're almost garaunteed that it will work. Try taking the game to best buy and see if one of the employees will let you try putting it in one of their PS3's, just tell him that you might seriously consider buying one if worked :)
the price you bought it for was 599 plus tax, now the price is 499 plus tax, how are you getting this 160 dollar difference, it's a 100 dollars for God's sake. I know it's still a 100 dollars, but you just need to get over it
I say MotorStorm. First download the demo from the PSN and see if you like it. When I saw the demo of MotorStorm myself, I thought that MotorStorm is one of the best racing games invented :). Check out the demo and see if you like it which I am sure you would if you're into racing, the game also has one of the best online experiences. Nothing on the xbox360 can match it I believe so it should pretty unique and fun.
I don't know what you mean by standard HDMI, but it accepts any HDMI cable you buy. As for the upscaling, I don't think it's the upscaling that is doing a bad job but it's the game itself. I will tell you one thing though, God of War 2 (playing it right now) looks amazing on my HD TV, so I would say it depends on the game too and how well it is designed.
the 60GB is definitely better in my opinion for very simple reasons, 1) it's 100$ cheaper 2) it has the EE chip in it, so you can play pretty much all the PS1, PS2 games. PS2 games specially are still quite spectacular like GOD of War 2 which a turly amazing game that's worth every dollar. I know the 80 GB model comes with Motorstorm, but you can buy that on your own if you like. The online gaming is just amazing. It's free and works pretty well. I have not had many problems with it. occasionally it would kick me out of the game, but that happens rarely. Resistance is a great game. You will really like it if you're into FPS. I enjoyed that game a lot.
how about GT5 and Dirt. I like racing games. I would also check the reviews on Heavenly Sword and will definitely get MGS4 because there is so much hype about it, it's killing me. I never played the MGS series.
If you're running your PS3 on your HDTV make sure you get an HDMI cable. Make sure your TV supports that. i would say that this is the best set up fora PS3. Resistance is a great game to buy. If you like FPS then Rainbow six vegas is a good choice too and it's more tactical. PS3 does not get hot, It's so amazingly stable and runs very cool. Mine runs so smooth, I can't even hear it running unless I come very close to it. The 60GB model is a great choice. it's cheaper right now and has everything you need. In the future, you can upgrade the harddrive if you like, but 60Gb is good enough for now. If they're still running the 5 blue ray movies still, make sure you get those and sell on ebay or something.
