[QUOTE="The_Versatile"]The real problem should be with why are so many people saying drugs? Drugs serve a lot of good purposes. Drugs can save lives. Just remember how much you hate drugs the next time you need surgery... ;)ramboturd72

I think most users are refering to drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, meth, etc. that most of the time don't have practical uses.

Cannabis has a zillion practical uses. Cocaine has a couple. Meth has none.

But there you're only focusing on one area of religion... While assuming that people only believe in God because that belief 'helps them through a rough period'.EDIT: You know what? To hell with it. Believe what you like.super_mario_128
I only focused on that one aspect because it's what BlueBird brought up. Blame him if you're so upset. No wait, blame yourself.

[QUOTE="The_Versatile"]It serves no positive purpose, only neutral ones. BlueBirdTS

I respectfully disagree. Although religion plays no part in my life, for many it does and influences their behavior in a positive way.

You think it does + They think it does = Placebo Effect You're going to believe that no matter how many proofs of the opposite I give you, so why even bother... Religion is unnecessary. For all people who think faith in "God" has helped them, a replacement imaginary friend would have served the exact same purpose. It doesn't matter if it's Jesus, Allah, or the Peanut Butter and Jelly Monster... people have a tendency to imagine an outside force pushing them through a tough time, but actually what they're really doing, is just finding a source of motivation within themselves, using it as a springboard to launch themselves out of whatever pit they've fallen into. People just don't realize it's them all along. Some people feel the need to put a face on that energy, otherwise it won't make sense to them. Again, religion is just UNNECESSARY.

What is it with all the religion haters? Why is religion always vilified?

It serves no positive purpose, only neutral ones. Plus, it has been an enabler (or we've enabled it to be used as the excuse) of way too many destructive events. Basically, it's unnecessary. And when something that's unnecessary has been allowed to breathe and continue permeating throughout our society causing it's inevitable dulling effect for as long as it has, it's really time for people who care about our lives and our world, to put their foot down, draw a line, and say enough is enough. We don't need this, it's hurting us.

The same thing can be said about God.

Not at all. We can see the universe, even if not all of it. To see even a speck of it proves it's existence. With God, we don't have that speck.

I think that's what he's doing... This thread only appears to be the equivalent of "thinking out loud".

It is to be honest. I think clearer when people are thinking with me. Just my way of doing things, thanks alot for understanding Versatile x)

No problem. :) I'm outta here now though. I gotta shower and go to bed. So you're on your own kiddo! I'm abandoning you to go do my own thing! And no, you can't come with me!

I would have been if I tried to keep pursuing her and follow her around the world. Sorry I manned up and move on.That was a sad attempt to make me look bad.
