So my English teacher wants her cIass to write a two or three-page essay on a specific belief of ours. The essays are supposed to be like the ones published on this website.
If they're good, they can be submitted to the website and published there. If they're really, really freaking amazing, they can call you up and ask you to read your essay on the radio. They record all radio readings, and have essays by Bill Gates, Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, John McCain, Helen Keller, and many, many other historical figures both past and present that can actually be bought in cd format.
Now, you'd think this would be easy for me, but I'm having major writer's block with this one. We're supposed to pinpoint one specific belief that is central to all our beliefs, dedicate two pages to it, avoid preaching and talking about what we don't believe, and finally say it in front of the cIass.
It may not have to be a central belief, but it helps. I was considering either the effects of symbols (both human and non-human) on the developments and inspirations of humanity, or the grand implications of personal responsibility, but I can't think of a thesis statement.
The essay's due in about two weeks, so I should have enough time, but it's tougher than I had expected.
