[QUOTE="lowkey254"] Yes actually. You're telling Christians that they can't pray in public. That's not infringing on someone's rights?lowkey254

They have church. Public school is for education, not indoctrination. If you're not happy with that, go to one of the numerous private christian schools. As a wise man once said, "Don't pray in my school, and I won't think in your church".

In that case the GLBT should create The Gay Chicken and let it be. amuhrite? /sarcasm

You are contorting the issue in more ways than I thought possible. Chick Fil A, as a private company, has the right to do whatever they want with their money, but some people just don't like where that money is going and so don't contribute to it.

Sounds like a new inquisition to me (on far lesser terms). If I don't agree with gay marriage my business should be boycotted and shut down. Really? So a man can't give his opinion?

The thing is, he was asked about HIS opinion. He didn't make an announcement by holding a press conference at a GLBT rally! Someone asked him.

I commend him for standing up for his beliefs.

I will continue to eat Chick~Fil~A!

lowkey254

So no free market, eh? If people choose to not buy his food and he is shut down because of it (an unlikely possibility anyways) then they are the ones in the wrong for not buying his product? Are you saying he has an inherent right to their patronage?

No I'm saying that he has a right to his opinion and shouldn't be a martyr for it. He didn't say, "If you're gay don't eat here." Just because he doesn't agree with a minority doesn't mean he hates them.

Once again, his company donates to hate groups like Focus on the Family that work to get anti-gay legislation passed. IT'S NOT BECAUSE OF HIS OPINION, IT'S BECAUSE OF HIS ACTIONS.

Chick Fil-A is KFC chicken at double the price.

Seriously folks. It's just another fast-food joint. Only difference is the crazy prices, they're closed on Sundays and their owners hate gay people.

Netherscourge

KFC is actually pretty expensive. $8 for a meal, at least.

[QUOTE="thegerg"] These bills in question threaten the liberties of the majority just as much as the minority. lowkey254

So taking prayer out of school and teaching evolution is infringing upon the rights to Christians? give me a break.

[QUOTE="djshowstopper87"]

Some things in th bible are mean't to be taken literally but the bible is the word of God and if you consider yourself a christian then you shold be familar with it. But one thing that bible states clear as day man should not lay with man. God loves everyone (even non christians and people who mock him) but he does not condone sin and homosexuality is considered a sin. But calling the bible out of date, not be a long shot, most the the thing the bible talks about still happens today just in different forms.

I never knew we were living in a theocracy, pardon the error. Well, given that, I think we should all set about to our biblical duties of stoning adultresses.

There are no Chick Fil A chains in my state. It doesn't exist here. However I think people are blowing this whole thing out of proportion, the CEO never said he hated gay people, and they have a right to use their money to fund what they want.

I am not sure as to what bills or legislation they try to fund though, so can't comment on that, but the statement did not seem homophobic to me.

Ironically it's funny how the atheist community here on OT is yelling bigot, but yet I can gurantee you if Chick Fil A was funding atheist groups and bills going against religion they would all be singing a different tune and be praising and defending they guy.

thegerg

The difference is that your so called "atheist bills" don't threaten the civil liberties of a minority...

These bills in question threaten the liberties of the majority just as much as the minority.

So taking prayer out of school and teaching evolution is infringing upon the rights to Christians? give me a break.

I'll copy and paste what I said on the other thread:

You're confusing the issue. People (me included, even though I love their food), boycott Chick Fil-A not because they don't support homosexuality (I don't give a damn what other people think), but because they actually donate to organizations that actively try to get legislation passed that would limit the civil liberties of gays. Thus, when you buy that delicious sandwhich, it comes at a price; more than likely some of your money is going to opress people.
