[QUOTE="Tony_aaaa"][QUOTE="Alyxm1"]Will a standard HMDI cable work with PS3, or will I have to buy one especially for it? please say any onelions_rock_2008No, you must buy a $100+ HDMI cable. If you buy a cheap one, it won't work. You see, a 6 foot piece of wire is so amazingly complicated, anything under $100 must not be made correctly and will break your PS3.--just ask a Best Buy drone........ LIAR!!!!!! ya i have a $35 one and it works perfect When you're older, hopefully you will understand sarcasm.

lol wow people are crying over installing on their HDD...well thats what its for. 60gb is lots of spaceBackFlip101Hmmm...... Maybe that's why Sony quietly disco'd the 20GB version. ---I always thought is was due to the 20GB being less cost effective. I may be due to most future games needing to "install"
Umm..... No. If true, Sony would have listed the price at say, 699, then "drop" it to 425 (or whatever) at launch.i was just thinking about what i learnt on business studies at school and i came to a conclusion
surely the ps3's massive price is just a marketing technique that many companies use
i mean if they have it massively overpriced (£425) they wait a while (4 or 5 months) and decrease the price by £100, this means that the ps3 will be £325 which is still £40 more then a xbox 360 but people will say 'oo look the ps3 is £100 cheaper, i might get one now'
im probably not the first person to come to this conclusion but im wondering what people think
bmarrow
The PS3's high price exists because it costs Sony a ton to produce.
Defend it from what? I own a PS3 and I'm pissed off with Sony lately. Why should I defend decisions I don't agree with? IMO Sony needs to be told it's making serious mistakes----by it's fans. Maybe if it knows it's own fans are ready to leave, it'll start spending more $$$ on games and franchises.right. we all know its been a tough couple of days. what i want the cows to do is leave the ps3 forum and go to SW. with a vengence. a couple of rules though. dont start threads like "teh pii/360 is teh s**ttzorzz" just defend your console like it was your own mother. and try to convert a few lemmings and sheep while your there.
keep this thread up by commenting! thanks!

aww I see, thank you for the clarification. you wouldnt happen to know any rough time that they will start to include the new cells in retial. If its sort of a month i may as well wait but if we are talking 5months ill go ahead and get myself one now :DdavejcwAs far as I know, Sony is not even producing 65nm chips at all.---IBM is only making 65nm Cells in much higher (than PS3) specs for other markets. It'll be a few months at least before 65nm (PS3) Cell production ramps up to the point we see no more 90nm Cells---don't forget, for awhile, 90nm and 65nm will both be produced simultaniously.
Not much of a surprise but GS gave The Godfather a 7.6 on PS3 and a 7.9 for the 360 when the review talks about more features like the hit squad and slightly improved graphics and no real frame rate issues. Why wouldnt it just get a 7.9. Makes no sense to me, anyone??Pablo620Time. It was out long before on 360. Same reason OOT doesn't score a 10 anymore. As time passes, the bar is raised ever higher. If it was better AND released at the same time, it would have outscored the 360.
[QUOTE="Baller91"]yeah with a Firmware update soon just waitUTXIIWell, I thought it was rumor that the PS3 doesn't have an, for lack of a better word, upscale chip that the 360 has that allows this to work. Is this true? Sort of. The PS3 has a upscale chip (it works for movies) but is broken in games---only upscales the hoizontal or vertical res, not both. I've not idea if "firmware" can fix it.
It's possibale that the chip is actually broken in movies too, and the PS3 is up/downscaling in software----obviously impossible for games as they need the Cell for gameplay.
I have search these forums for info on the 65nm, of which the same info has come up again and again. i fully understand the whole theory behind moving from the 90cell to the 65cell, ie reduced heat blah blah....My real question which doesnt seem to have been answered anywhere else is that will the UK (Europe) models have the 65nm or the 90nm cell??!?! plz dont flame me down as i understand there may be no way of knowing yet and i have search google etc but no luck. davejcwBoth. The inital shipment of ~1 millio has already been made----90nm. As Sony transitions to 65nm, future shipments will eventually include it. Expect a website to eventually have a serial # post---like all #s after XXXXXXX use 65nm.
I think Sony should include in one of their updates that if you start a movie the checking the wireless connection thing shouldn't even occur.timster118What if you're (background) downloading while watching a movie?
