@Ghostdog201 I agree 100%. I still haven't tried Diablo 3 even though I thoroughly enjoyed the second one years ago, and it's because I really don't like the idea of having to be online during my single player game (at least not in that context. Dark Souls is a great example of an always online game that has a purpose and doesn't interfere with game play, AND it is optional). I'm not picking up this game for the same reason, let alone the server issues. It's a shame because it looks like it might actually be good.
@mlcarter815 There have been plenty of kickstarter games released to critical acclaim, FTL being the example that pops into my head. Also, backers just received gameplay footage of Wasteland 2 and it looks f'ing amazing. Personally I have thrown money down on half a dozen games, two have been released, two I am currently playing in Beta and the other two will be released some time this year. So far not a dollar wasted, but if it does happen I knew the risks. We don't need judgment from an internet nerd who knows nothing about the process or what has actually been happening in the community during the last year.
@Bexorcist A single player game should not REQUIRE online connectivity to play, period. That is why people (including me) are boycotting the game even though we have been Simcity fans since the original.
More wishful thinking. Of course they want this to be true, all their money is based in the used game market. Personally I have moved on to PC anyway, haven't touched my PS3 in months. Probably won't bother with next gen.
@CriticalCritic PC gaming has seen a resurgence in the last few years, to the point that nearly every major title released on consoles is released on PC. Oh, and there are some insane and deeply moving indie games out there that do and don't contain platforming. They are cheap, they are stylized, they take risks with game play and content and usually they are less than $10. Compared to PC, consoles are extremely limited.
Wishful thinking. A small portion of the community might forgo consoles on principle, but the majority will just deal with it. Face it Gamestop, the bell tolls for thee.
