@aovannor Yea, expectations that Numenera will have a similar feel, artistic style and story depth as Planescape: Torment. Because it is developed by the same people, and they basically said they want to make a game in the same vein. But nowhere did anyone say it was a direct sequel, and in fact they have commented several times to the contrary. So if someone read a headline that said "New Torment Game!", and they ran to Kickstarter and chose a rewards tier without reading a single line of what the game is going to be about, then they deserve to be disappointed when they download the game and finally play it. The point of all this? Your original comment was unnecessary (and insulting, because you are assuming that people are actually that stupid) for several reasons, the primary one being that the campaign is over and everyone has already been charged. Not too much they can do about it now as Kickstarter doesn't get involved in refunds.
@aovannor Seriously? You assumed that people didn't know anything about the game before donating, I assumed that everyone actually read the frontpage before putting up money. Which of these two sounds more ridiculous? Hint: The answer is yours.
@aovannor @Melchior111 @Legolas_Katarn Read my comment beloew, THAT is what makes it similar. Also, 'similar' by definition does not mean the same or directly related to.
@aovannor @Tseng And I am saying they do, because it is literally one of the first things you read on the kickstarter page. Besides, it's a little late to worry about that now. Also, why do you care how other people spend their money?
@Legolas_Katarn @thebanewolf @blueinheaven For this particular project they get everything in the lower tiers, plus a statue, a signed concept piece, a leatherbound core book and an in game obelisk in your image that is designed via phone call with Brian Fargo. But really, it is more about giving money to a great project and an incredible team of devs without expecting anything in return.
@aovannor It is clearly stated on the Kickstarter page that Numenera is in no way a direct sequel or related at all to Planescape. The setting, music, story and art, on the other hand, are all being handled by a lot of the original devs for Planescape. If you are like me, and the tens of thousands of other that donated, you are paying for their work, and not a sequel.
Some people don't play online. They don't download games, they don't stream videos, they don't play multiplayer. The fact that they are now forced to always be on or risk not being able to use the $500 piece of equipment they just bought is, quite frankly, retarded.
@91210user That is the dumbest reason not to get a game. How about we put this in perspective using numbers. Lets say you consider SMT 3 to be rated 100 out of 100, far above the average of 85 (all theoretical to prove a point, of course). If SMT IV was 99/100, it wouldn't be as good as 3 but still far better than average. You're saying you wouldn't buy it?
