@l777l @Smokescreened84 @lukewallwork @Landsharkk @Tseng Wow, this topic went nuts. Look, the fact is that even if 30% of core gamers were women (which is a very high estimate if you eliminate social/casual gaming), there would still be a massive 70% male. Personally I have no problem playing as a female character, but if I have a choice I always choose male. And if that 30% is accurate, than females prefer playing male as well, since 80% + of the people that played Mass Effect played as male Shepard.
So 30% of the market is 'the core'? Does it mention that most of those women only play social games? The core has and always will be dirty mouthed 15 year old boys and life long game nerds.
Final Fatnasy XI, spreading focus among multiple genres, questionable aquisitions and the inability/unwillingness to give their core fan base what they have been clamoring for (A return to classic JRPG mechanics as well as a remake of FF VII) all lead to a company that is consistently and exponentially losing money year over year. It's going to be hard to pull out of this tailspin. If you haven't already, and you are old enough to remember the good ol' days of JRPGs (SNES/PSone), you better kiss Square goodbye.
@Skrillbak @gbrading Followed by the player character ascending into heaven to reign over the cosmos, shooting purple chevrons out of his ass as he zooms across space and time.
