[QUOTE="Jandurin"] are strangers not people too?Jandurin

Obviously? What does that have to do with anything?

why would you think their beliefs/arguments aren't worthy of altering or solidifying a viewpoint?

I don't even know why I should response to this because it seems so obvious, but: because a stranger may be a 14-year-old child who may be parroting whatever their parents are telling them. It is far more logical to listen to renowned professors instead of hoping that they are typing on the GameSpot forums.

[QUOTE="Jandurin"]is this some sort of weird advertising?Jandurin

When I was in High School, we had an assignment to debate with each other over some current political issues. I thought the whole assignment was silly, because I understood that we were still too immature, young, and just plain "stupid" to understand current political issues. Likewise, I think forming beliefs, even partly, based on arguments with strangers over the internet is just as silly.

I was raised as a Christian but have often been skeptical about just about everything. One of these things happened to be whether or not God was real. To help discover whether this was true, I began to search for debates between intellectual advocates for each side so that I may form my own opinions.

The best sources I have found are outlined here.

They are from the Fixed Point Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to defending Christianity. At first, I believed I hit another dead end and expected more biases, but this organization hosts fair and structured debates and include some of the most famous advocates for Atheism in our time: Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins.

These sources are also thoughtful because they extend beyond simply Atheism vs. Christianity, but also the idea of any God.

The organization also offers a full length video of one these debates free of charge. I am also open to additional sources that anyone else may like to offer.

I always respected Guild Wars and its role in gaming, but I never liked it.

This, however, looks incredibly fun...I hope they take the PvE content a lot more serious than they did in previous installments.

Guild Wars was neat because it was so different from other games. It was refreshing to see a game be creative.

This looks pretty amazing. It would appear that ArenaNet has prospects of implementing features that other MMORPGs have yet to attempt. The developers also announced the Elementalist, who can cast some of the most beautiful spells I have ever seen in an MMORPG. The website also shows the combat system and how it is supposed to be skill-based and unique.

I have always thought that Guild Wars is a good game with a lot of potential, but it has been frequently looked down upon for being different. As an example, I have often heard the mentality of, "This is not what World of Warcraft does so therefore it is bad." I wonder how Guild Wars 2 will compare with other games in the end.

I have a strange question about a strange psychological issue that I have. For whatever reason, I find it really difficult to make an experience within a game artificial. An example would be in Oblivion, where while it is fun to go into houses and steal things in an attempt to get rich, there is really no reason to do so when the game lets you open a console and type player.additem 000000F 100000 to instantly have all financial worries solved. Another example is that while it is fun to think strategically when fighting enemies, there is really no reason to do so when there is an in-game difficulty slider to instantly defeat all challenges.

Perhaps it is just that those things kill the "roleplaying" experience for me, or ruin the whole "breaking from reality" concept.

Anyways, what completely ruined the original Assassin's Creed for me was that the game was too easy and that there was no way to make it more difficult. There was really no reason to actually assassinate enemies by trying to blend into crowds and being all stealth-like, and no reason to even run away whenever danger approached, because the reality was that the game would let you charge into an entire army and dispose of all enemies quite gracefully.

So, my question is this: in Assassin's Creed 2, how powerful are the enemies? Besides obviously having "fun", would there be any other reason for me to play the game like it is supposed to be played, or would I be able to act like Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors?

I got paid a little while ago so I figured I would go ahead and buy another game. After looking through some options, I have decided to either get Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

I have looked at several reviews for each game and they both seem to be exceptional. Perhaps some people on GameSpot could give me their personal opinions. I am also completely open to other suggestions so that would be lovely, too.

Write about a time when you thought to yourself, "I simply cannot believe I am this stupid. This is so embarrassing."

For me, it was when I was in high school, and there was this girl that I really liked but was always too shy to actually talk to. Then, one day, when she was surrounded by over 10 of her friends, I simply gathered up the nerve, walked right up to her, got her attention, and then completely froze. After stuttering for a good 10 seconds and being unable to find words, I finally said, "Uh, I heard a friend of yours committed suicide last night. I just wanted to know if that was true."

She was like, "I don't think that happened."

Then I turned around, walked away and never talked to her ever again.

MANATEE COUNTY - A domestic dispute over a video game erupted into an all-out home melee late Thursday, with one man strangling his mother, throwing his son across a room and then being shot in the head by his grandfather, according to reports.

James Swan, 27, was arrested late Thursday on charges he choked his mother, Hazel Summerall, 50, and threw his juvenile son across a room after Summerall tried to get him to stop playing the "World of Warcraft" video game.

The incident started around 10 p.m., in Summerall's home in the 6400 block of 12th Avenue East, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

Swan was playing the game in a bedroom shared by several children, and was drinking alcohol and growing increasing loud, Summerall told deputies. She asked Swan to stop playing, a request he ignored, and then she put a hand on his shoulder as she asked again.

Swan then grabbed her by the hair and threw her onto a bed, according to reports. Swan then picked up his son, who also was in the room, and threw him onto the bed, without injuring the child. As he did, Summerall ran into the kitchen to call police, but Swan ripped the phone off the wall.

After slamming his head into the wall, Swan grabbed Summerall, threw her onto the living room floor, jumped on her and began choking her as he threatened to kill her, the reports said.

Swan's grandfather tried to stop the choking, failed, and then grabbed a handgun. He and Swan struggled briefly, and the gun fired once, witnesses said. But, investigators found a bullet had shattered a window in the home and lodged in a wooden porch, while emergency medical crews also found a bullet entry wound in Swan's head and no exit wound.
