I think the inclusion of pyramid head proves exactly what's the problem with "insane" villains. They're wild dogs. Uninteresting monsters. Not that I would call everyone on that list insane, but think about a "sane" villain with an insane one. Take a man like Jon Irenicus. A monster is destructive and frightening, but ultimately a monster is one dimensional. A man who is driven by less primal motivations is a man we can understand and even sympathise with. It someone we can know what he wants and how far he will go to get it. Even Tolwyn from Wing Commander is deranged, but he's not insane. The fact he's not out to cause mayhem for mayhem's sake, but instead to protect and ensure humanity's existence after the next contact with alien life makes him more frightening than anyone on this list, because his darkness speaks to one that lurks in all of our hearts. We might be or become someone like him. Someone who wields darkness in service of good or justice.

Most of those villains aren't crazy. They aren't perceiving a reality that isn't there. They're not like us, so we label them as crazy. But if they were crazy they wouldn't be compelling. It's the villains who we can understand, who are the best, most compelling antagonists.

If they are unable to tell me what exciting things they are up to in the future, surely I would be unable to.

Wow, if I was a less... polite? person, I might term this panel in an unsavory term. I found it so unappealing how everyone was on the same page ('Oh, who would play a Dynasty Warriors game?' I don't know, someone who like to have to think and strategically manage their mindless action scenes instead of just having meaningless mindless action scenes.)

When the difference of opinion ranges from 'I love Nintendo with all my heart' to 'I REALLY love Nintendo with all my heart' gone is any real chance of criticism and therefore meaningful analysis. And if you aren't going to give me meaningful analysis of the material, then, with all due respect, what good are you? I can watch the raw footage and form an opinion. I need Gamespot to have insight as individuals who are much closer and have interesting perspectives. Not to go around in a circle saying how much they love Nintendo. That's not information I need to make any shape or kind of decision.

Danny, Les Mis was 1832. It would be like someone in 2234 looking back and saying that the Gulf War was very World War II.

I don't think we are suffering from Kickstarter fatigue, but I think we are approaching project saturation right now. I think Kickstarter has worked so well, that all quality game dev teams are currently not available to pitch projects, therefore, the kickstarter projects to back are lacklustre. I've not back much in the past five months, because there hasn't been many good projects to back.

Why did normal space compression only appear at the end and why did you act like Elite invented the idea? I mean, it's not like most every science fiction with FTL travel doesn't use some sort of space compression/alternate-dimensional space. I mean, Star Trek uses space compression. STAR TREK. In fact, Light speed travel is fairly rare in science fiction. Why you would lead with that as a method for FTL drives is beyond me.

@PlatinumPaladin @Verenti So, this is a show for ... children? Non-gamers? Is Gamespot really the place for gaming education? Because although I do not doubt that people exist who haven't played big releases from the past few years, one has to assume that the core audience of Gamespot or most gaming websites have, indeed, played videogames. If they're choosing to spend their time reading news articles on gaming and reading reviews on new releases, one has to assume these people are the initiated. Ergo, is a show which tells them loads of things they already know, having been in this community of gamers for a few years, a good way to keep a show running?

The Waiting Game had the benefit of recommending media outside of gaming, likely, because they realised that the majority of gamespot community already possess expertise on gaming. That's why they're here. It's why the site exists.

@spartanx169x @Verenti I didn't criticise the host, I criticised the premise of the show. I have no problems with the lady.
