If Xbox fanboys are the ones buying the Elite when it will be launched, it still means Microsoft gains market share. Currently owened Premium 360s will eventually be resold on Ebay, in newspapers, Gamestop, etc. If I went out and got myself an Elite at launch, I would sell my Premium 360 and somebody out there would be getting it for a great deal.thinicer

I think their premiums broke and many are out of warranty. Hence time to buy new Xbox...so why not make it an elite.

When the Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite was announced last March, analysts pondered on whether there's a market for the system and how current system owners will receive the package. Many assumed that only the hardcore crowd would respond, but things didn't play out the way the mavens saw it.

The online demand for the higher-end Xbox 360 package has eclipsed the Core and Premium bundles, which is pretty impressive when you consider that the Elite was listed on retailers for only three weeks and is currently unavailable. This isn't to say that the Core and Premium are weakening, as both have shown a stable market performance since the console launched.

As the Nintendo Wii fever cools down a bit, the Xbox 360 Elite still finds itself trailing by a lofty 40 percent in the monthly charts. However, it is important to note that even when demand for all three consoles weakened at the tail-end of the first quarter, Microsoft's game machine was the least affected in terms of sales drops.

The same cannot be said of last generation's console king Sony. It's still at the bottom of the current-gen machines and the gap is widening significantly. The Sony PlayStation 3 has experienced a 20 percent decline in demand and its sales barely amounted to half of the Wii's.

Analysts still point to pricing as one of the key factors in winning the console wars. The Xbox 360 Elite will be priced at lower rates than the PS3 despite new and better hardware included. The platform still hosts the widest game library of the three and has the most vibrant online gaming community with its Xbox Live network.

MS is the King!

Subcritical

And Lems are MS's gimp!

Anyway, Lems lining up for a second throttling isn't too suprising. Yet they will claim that you always have to upgrade your PC. go figure.

it could be new 360 buyers.

im not getting a new 360

It could be, but I seriously doubt it. Why would families with limited budget spend more on the "Elite" as opposed to the other models? They wouoldn't. Only enthusiast would buy something called "Extreme".

Families don't buy 360s, they buy Wiis.

Family and 360 gamer don't go together. 360 nerds can't get girls to have children in the first place.

I used to think like that until reviews came through for PS3 multiplats, ohh and the price plan. The PS3 is basically the least like a gaming system, costs the most, came out last and has developers leaving it, the only thing that can save it now is hype, and the lack of knowledge on the market by casual gamers.

Leejjohno

LOL you buy a console for multiplats?

Did I say that? Multiplats are the only true test of a consoles power, because it can be compared, and PS3 has failed them up to now. Twist it any which way you want it, but thats the way it is.

No true test of a consoles power are games built ground up specifically for a system. Apparently you think otherwise..which is sad.

MS: 1080p is not needed for games.

PS3 launches.

MS: We have software that upconverts games to 1080p (still a gimmick MS fanboys believe its true 1080p)

PS3 launches..bluray dominates charts.

MS: puts on sale HD-DVD add on for $200. Its all about choices they say..well if its about choices why not have HD-DVD an Bluray drive. (MS lies again, MS fanboys believe otherwise)

PS3 hdmi allows flawless picture conversion and 1080p/1080i/720/480 on one cable. A connection which all new hdtvs now have.

MS: Rushes 360 elite (making a 3rd SKU)..with the only real difference is to include hdmi. Sorry but 120gb and 20gb a difference does not make.

I can see whats gonna happen next.

PS3 has 6-axis. Developers are excited and already working on ways to utilize 6-axis into their games. Funny cause apparently they can care less about rumble.

MS: will come up with some type of controller to compete.

Not the mention the 360 is the most faulty console on the market ever with 3 rings of death, disc scratches, overheating, etc. If that doesn't say rushed I dont know what does.

I dont know what the TC is arguing about Resistance, Motorstorm and Lair IS the reason why I bought PS3. Games not found on any other system, built ground up on PS3.

if the ps3 had a normal dvd drive like the 360 would they be the same? is the graphic hardware better than the 360 because i heard the ps3's processors dont work well together and that the 360 processor is a lot better than it. which 1 is the best?(not counting the blu ray)d_ano

360 is red rings of death.

What I got from the video besides Lair looking amazingly good.

PS3's the Cell allows real time progressive mesh...an no other console out there can do it. The Cell not the GPU does this.

As a fps hater Resistance is the only fps I actually wanted to finish. The last fps I finished was Farcry for PC and Halo before that. Its the best console fps I ever played...but again I hate fps in general.

I tried Halflife2, Halo2,...both to boring to finish.
