@fog90 Actually, that's kind of interesting! Crappy American games that are all the same usually get really high scores on Gamespot, while Japanese games rarely get the same treatment, in spite of generally being more original, diverse and all-around better.

@hiverious @IAMTYLERDURDEN I am the last person who will tell you big budget popular games are diverse, but Capcom, while not the most angelic company ever, does try to put out unique games that try something new. Operation Raccoon City had a lot of interesting game mechanics in terms of controlling zombies to fight human enemies and other players. Dragon's Dogma wanted to be a team-based action RPG and it does have a lot of flaws but the core idea was a good one. Resident Evil 6 tries to take what made RE4 good and give it more typical controls, like being able to strafe and move and shoot at the same time. Capcom hardly has the biggest pockets around and their games are advertised very little. You will see sameyness from American publishers more than you will from Japanese ones (unless you're looking at turn-based JRPGs).

@hiverious @fog90 Isn't that what we're all doing here?

@nyran125 RE6 is an action game. So are RE4 and RE5. You might not like to adjust to tank controls and standing still while shooting, but RE6 controls very similar to Dead Space. What's your point? If you didn't like RE4 or RE5, what were you expecting to be different about RE6?

@nyran125 People complain about QTE events so much but then they don't seem to give a crap when shallow games like God of War and Battlefield 3 base themselves entirely around them. RE5 barely had more QTEs than RE4. RE6 doesn't have that many QTEs either, except in the first 5 minutes, which is what people base their entire reviews on.

@hiverious @IAMTYLERDURDEN I'm not saying that big budgets are good, I'm saying popular games like Skyrim and Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect 3 have big budgets, and on top of that they advertise really heavily and tell people constantly to buy them, and people are stupid enough to eat those games up and completely ignore their problems.

@hiverious @fog90 The camera is not that problematic. You can switch shoulders, which is more than you can say for Mass Effect 3. The game's pacing rarely implies that it should be super-fast and actiony. It is slow and deliberate, as were the previous two games. You may sometimes lose camera control between battles for some kind of dramatic scene, but it doesn't happen that often and it doesn't happen during combat to get you killed. Has Kevin ever played another game in his life?

@nyran125 RE5 controls almost exactly like RE4. What are you talking about?

@hiverious @IAMTYLERDURDEN But then most people don't seem to realize that big budget games can afford lots of advertising and those heavily advertised games are the crappy ones that they just love.

@hiverious @fog90 All these butthurt reviews are from people assuming the game is full of cutscenes and QTEs, which it isn't. They don't bother to talk about gameplay, they just go into it with pre-conceived notions that the game will suck and they warp their view of reality to adjust to this.
