@NatashaRomanova No need to resurrect, because adventure games never died. Telltale gives much power to the genre, but Europe is the place, where most point'n'clicks were made after 2000.
@SolanOcard Alone in the Dark was the first true survival horror - so action-adventure. You had to use keyboard. You can still buy it on http://GOG.com. Amazing game IMO.
Great episode, thank you so much for bringing adventure games to our attention. My favourite point'n'clicks are Monkey Island series (especially 1-2-3), Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (one of the best game story ever), Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and Blade Runner (non-linear masterpiece with atmosphere of the movie). I also like Day of the Tentacle, The Last Express, Legend of Kyrandia, Syberia, The Longest Journey, The Shadow of the Comet (Cthulhu fhtagn!), Still Life, Gray Matter and Book of Unwritten Tales. The truth is that most of adventure games are now produced in Europe, especially in Germany (it was mentioned by Tim Schafer) - this genre never ever died. It passed away only in minds of mass audience - just like classic RPG's, flight simulators or tactical wargames. People are now obsessed by shooters and other action based games. But adventure games got some more attention - thanks to digital distribution, indie gaming and Kickstarter. Tim Schafer's success inspired many p'n'c legends like Al Lowe or Jane Jensen. This is great. (side note: Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island weren't point'n'clicks (you had to use keyboard), but still adventure games.
Anyway if you're looking for good adventure games, you should check http://www.gog.com - you can get there 4 great adventure classics for free - and this is only a beginning. :) No DRM, nice goodies and fair price.
