halo 2 was a halo game. half life 2 was a game that scored lower but was considered a better game.

I think they rated Halo2 somewhat based upon hype, and later regretted giving the score they did. I do not believe that will happen this time.

And the reason I say that is that the campaign was not as good in the 2nd as in the first. Also the multiplayer balance was a little odd in my opinion.

yes. like i said, the text is more important than the score. look at halo 2 and half life 2. halo 2 outscored it but half life 2 won best shooter of the year.

They are focusing on relative value I believe, which means the number doesn't have to be absolutely accurate. So the logic you are talking about they will blame on the new rating system.

wrong. there's a new scoring system and the text of the review is more important than the score. just because they think it's better doesn't mean it automatically gets a higher score.

That could also mean that they are much more likely to give out 10s. In which case Halo3 would be a great place to start.
