Albert Penello was just on Neogaf admitting that PS4 has a raw horsepower advantage. He wouldn't be saying that if there was some secret Xbox sauce that nobody knows about. Sure, he went on to claim that there won't be much of a difference between the two because he feels that Ms did such a good job optimizing their hardware but he did say that when it comes to raw specs PS4's numbers are greater.

I would love this dGPU thing to be true but it's a dream that ain't gonna happen.

This is the deception phase. Signal someone to come closer with one hand while your other hand hides a knife behind your back.

lol, c'mon. :P

The weakness of these upcoming consoles and the great sales on Steam have me considering it as well.

Overclocking does not make the hardware better. It just means that Microsoft got desperate. And even with the upclock, Sony's GPU is still superior, soooooo.....Yeah. It's a lesson in futility--especially since Microsoft has only increased the likelihood of an overheat; RROD revisited.

Pariah_001

I've been telling people this all day. It's amazing how many people seem to think these slight upclocks are something significant. MS might have picked up a few sales by fooling the technically illiterate.

I am one who is a tech savvy type of nerd, launch titles don't impress me but what impresses me is technical specifications of said console. I get excited when I hear about how much memory it has (8 gigs for the new consoles!) or reading about how powerful the new GPU cores are going to be compared to previous gen. Personally i'll buy a Sony Playstation 4 because it has the greater technology and can handle more GPU/CPU intensive tasks, if the dashboard were to ever be used like a desktop or a tablet phone the extra memory and processing power would make this on par with mid-range PCs which is astonishingly amazing for its price value. Launch titles are not a concern, nor should it be for any of you. What should be a concern is the power technological advances VS. price...and PS4 is a better value. Granted Xbox does have better launch titles it seems but that does not matter to me. Who else agrees?

BeardMaster

This sarcasm tells me that you are pretty shortsighted. Both of these companies are proven. Both consoles will get games, LOTS OF THEM. That isn't a concern at this point. Better hardware equals a better canvas for developers to paint on longterm. When developers have better tools to work with they can create more amazing experiences for you and I. That's why people care about specs.

Is that an argument for the value of kinect? as i feel like bundling kinect gives devs a much wider array of options vs a mild increase in processing.

Yeah, it's an argument for Kinect, lol. Cuz as we all know talking at your TV is fun. Don't know why people haven't been doing it for decades.

Wow, this upclocking stuff from MS is having more of an effect on the clueless than I would have guessed. I've seen several people here today asking what it all means, how the upclock changes things, what speeds are PS4's chips clocked at, etc. It barely means anything! Xbox One, spec-wise, is still behind PS4. In fact, nothing has changed. It's still the same silicon it was before. If you drive your Ford Escort at 45 mph or 55 mph it's still a Ford Escort! As far as we know right now Xbox One is exactly what it was yesterday or even last month, still a Ford Escort, they've just decided to drive it 10 mph faster. Don't make more of it than what it is.

If the Ford was locked at 45mph then that would be true

I don't even know what you mean by that. The reality is that it's still the same crappy hardware that we knew about last month, or even 6 months ago. They just changed the firmware to tell it "Go faster!" Big deal. And I am absolutely not a cow. I prefer Xbox and want to pick Xbox again (They just aren't letting me). But I'm not blind! The tech is behind PS4 and this smoke and mirrors stunt does nothing to change that. I'm actually pissed at them for not making a TRUE upgrade to the hardware. How in the hell did they get outdone by a broke company like this? Makes no sense to me.

The PS4 is still the most powerful console in video game history, I think we all need to give a quick shout out to Sony for making this happen. Driven be the mantra of by gamers for gamers and delivering the most cutting edge tech , all for us. Thanks Sony. Heil68

If it's impossible for MS to improve Xbox One in a meaningful way (Apparently it is) then hopefully the likes of Samsung or Apple might come in and provide us with a TRUE next-gen console. Seriously, 1.8 tflops and 1.3 tflops are just different grades of weak sauce.

[QUOTE="TheKingIAm"] $500 for a console with the same off the shelf parts as the ps4 but with a weaker gpu and a crappy camera that spies on you and snoops around your house when you're asleep. Custom built....:lol:NathanDrakeSwag

Dead Rising 3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Flopzone

For all the 5 year old COD fans sure. For everyone else no.

Killzone has always just been an above-average FPS franchise. Do you really expect this one to be a killer-app?
