There used to be a time when I could look at a PC game vs a console game or a PC game on low/medium vs high/max and immediately see the big difference but now...not so much
Let's face it people, graphics have gotten to a point where it's mostly about small details and the average consumer isn't going to be staring at textures and other **** like that.
While you people fight over these things, things like Ai, physics and animation are woefully behind graphics.
I long for the gen when devs give these things more priority and gamers start fighting over which games have the best Ai, physics and animation instead.
What's the point of more detailed worlds and such if the characters move like crap, things are so static interaction is limited (imagine fully/semi-destructible environments in GTA V!) and AI don't react to your actions in the game world as well as they should (seriously, I hunger for better AI, especially in open world games).
Now, I'm not saying graphics aren't important, or that we should stop advancing them, but FFS there are other important things being left out of the spot-light.
Am I going to have to wait until graphics hit a huge wall and devs have no choice but to prioritise these things?
I mean, sure UC does animation well and BF3 (and that other game) pushes destructible environments but c'mon...
Does anyone else feel this way? Or am I all alone here...
