Kaszilla, Sony might launch more conservatively like they did with the 3DS and if that is the case then MS really needs to make a monster out of there hardware like the 360 was.
Banjo_Kongfooie
Why would MS need to do that?

Is this a very early 360 damage control thread?
Banjo_Kongfooie
How is it damage control, I will find it amusing that Wii U supporters will tout their consoles superiority over a 6+ year old console and then act like graphics do not matter when the other consoles get released.
It is inevitable and very funny. I mean it was funny when the 3DS was announced its graphics were touted as being superior to the Psp (like it was a feat of strength to out do a 5 year old console).
Not bashing the 3DS though because it actually has pretty good hardware just not as great as the Vita. The hardware is definately powerful though (Resident Evil Revalations looks astonishing) and a real step up from the DS.
Er...I doubt anyone is expecting PS4 and NextBox to launch AFTER Wii U and be less powerful.
People are excited that Nintendo will make a moderate jump because it means they can get a system capable of next-gen ports plus Nintendo games are going to look sweet in HD with better tech if SMG2 is anything to go by.
The only reason people had to tout 3DS as being superior to PSP is because there were a bunch of trolls claiming 3DS was inferior or on-par with PSP.
There wouldn't have to be a Nintendo Defense Force if there wasn't a Nintendo Doom Squad to counter.
The Dreamcast kicked ass, Soul Calibur looks better than any PS2 game.[QUOTE="Spartan070"][QUOTE="ActionRemix"] Dreamcast = Xbox 720; PS2 = Wii U; Gamecube or Xbox = PS4;cdrewsr388
Yeah....Metal Gear Solid 3 disagrees.....
Isn't that a gameplay screen VS a bullshot/cutscene?
@Ryvius : Was all those screens necessary? :?
[QUOTE="Darth-Samus"]If true, the tech is a solid step above the 360 and PS3 but still a few years behind PC standards. Whereas the 360 was more or less equivalent with PC hardware when it came out (I think)I'm not tecnhically savy. Would anyone mind translating in laimens what this means? :)

Are you expecting PS4/xbox3 to launch in 2013 with the same parts as the high end PCs of today.

Most modern games take up that amount of VRAM nowadays. Does that mean they are all unoptimized? Try harder.

This gen MS lost over a billion dollars because they went from 256 mb ram to 512 mb at the request of Epic. Who suffered for that? Epic or MS?
And I very much doubt either Sony or MS will want to take the kind of losses they made this gen.
Console companies don't pack as much parts into a console as they can and then think about price. They have a price in mind and they put in what they can.
3rd party devs will ***** and whine then go on to do nice things with the hardware. Graphics whores will look at PC hardware and say the consoles don't have enough then go on to fight about which ones have the best versions when they see the games.
It was the same for previous gens and it'll be the same for next gen.
I agree with the other guy. Instead of bigger worlds (worlds are plenty huge already), we need denser worlds.
And calm yourself. No one is 'trying hard' for anything here.
MS lost money because of hardware failures not because of adding extra RAM. More RAM will allow large dense worlds not one or the other. You guys are so used to seeing only 1 type that u can't imagine both being combined.
http://www.1up.com/news/epic-games-cost-microsoft-billion ( can't insert the damn link without html problems).
Over a billion dollars. Console RAM doesn't come cheap.
And like I said, the consoles will get sufficient RAM for what prices they are targetting. I'm expecting 2-3 GBs from MS and Sony.1-1.5 GBs from Nintendo.
Wether devs choose to have denser worlds, 1080p at 60fps, better AI, etc over bigger-less-densely-packed-worlds, 1080p/720p @ 30fps, crappy AI, etc is all their choice.
And I think until we have quantum computing in consoles, or we evolve to cloud gaming exclusively, most devs will sacrifice better resolution, fps, etc for shinier graphics and effects.
Crysis is terribly optimised, so that doesn't mean much.[QUOTE="Wii-U4Fun"][QUOTE="painguy1"]. Anyway, Crysis at 1080p takes up a total of 500mb of VRAM alone painguy1

People actually complain that Ninty doesn't make M rated games? My god...

Matoor gamers need their guns, boobies and cursing yo!
I don't see Nintendo WiiU being a big jump in terms of power. I don't think Nintendo has the money for it, and they have to make sure it a decent cost to where people would buy it. They nothing to fall back on so they can't sell it at a heavy loss. There also already selling the 3DS at a loss so that does not help.
Does not bother me, its a big jump from the Wii, and it be interesting to see how Nintendo handles HD. I hope they take their time on their games and not try to rush anything out.

1. Nintendo doesn't have the money for it? Do you know how much profits they made this gen? They have over 10 billion in their warchest.
2. Iwata said Wii U will cost more than what Wii lauched at, which is $250. So I'm guessing it'll cost between $300 and $350 at launch.
3. Iwata also said they might sell at a loss but it doesn't have to be a heavy loss. It doesn't cost much to make a console that's a moderate jump over PS360.

This has got to be BS.That much embedded Ram would make the console bigger than my Room and cost more than my house.
