He's vaccinated so he should probably be fine despite his age.

The most interesting discussion point about this is how it ties to people wanting him to not run again. Biden said he will only step down if he was diagnosed with a medical condition by doctors, and yet a few hours later, he tested positive for COVID.

You didn't address either question though Willy, I asked if you believe your taxes are too low and should you be paying more taxes?

That's the point Willy - you have "socialists" who beat the drums with all the political pandering and then go home reaping the very benefits they cry about. The idea of a socialist millionaire is absolutely hilarious.

Well there's the thing, that kind of thinking negates the complexity of what it takes to provide a functional government and instead focuses on emotion. There is no proper answer to "Are my taxes too high?" than saying "Yes." Of course "my" taxes are too high, cause it's money I don't get to keep in my bank. But, who cares that people don't like taxes yet need them? That's how everything works, whether it is eating your vegetables or going to the doctor or having more than one game launcher on your taskbar. You thinking some "socialist"s point is moot because "ah ha, they want more social services but I bet they don't like to pay taxes" is a childish way to think about the world. Also, the dude earned his money, let him be rich and pay taxes so you can have decent roads. Socialist doesn't mean "be poor", it means "be fair."

That childish way of thinking can also lead to real harm. Specifically, the state I am employed in has no income tax. The state is also collapsing and nearly unlivable, with diminishing protections and services for its citizens; constantly having to be bailed out by the federal government, which uses money from other states. That sucks! Do the two issues have to be related? It shouldn't, and yet the same broken and failed ideology that pushes them to not have those taxes also results in those issues afflicting the state.

@FireEmblem_Man: Investing in ourselves is the entire point of paying taxes. The far right talking point "America First" has nothing to do with more or less taxes, but how those taxes are used. Anyway, the political right increases the US debt more than the politically left, so your concern seems misplaced.

I mean, it's actually a very easy answer to the question "are my taxes too high." It's either, yes they are, or no... they're not. It's the perception of value -- do you feel your financial burden placed upon you by the government is reciprocated by the "functions" and "services" of the government there-in. Like I said, you declaratively stated the taxes were too low, yet now you're telling me that taxes for you are too high. I'm assuming you also take advantage of the variety of tax benefits to make sure you don't owe more than you reasonably are expected to owe.

But yeah, I'm not opposed to some homie having money. lol I merely find it hilarious when said homie cries profoundly about wealth inequality and stands proudly on the steps of socialism rhetoric and yet his "philanthropy" to the government involves... crickets... Like I said, if you ever feel like your taxes are personally too low, feel free to donate to the United States Treasury. Let me know if you need help finding the link. ;)

You may have a skewed perception of what things cost. Taxes are not even close to being a financial burden compared to literally anything else that is part of someone's budget (rent/mortgage, food, insurance, vehicle payments, etc). Complaining about taxes being too high is a distraction from actual cost of living problems in the country; having to lose only 3% of your average pay to taxes compared to over 30%-50% of your pay going to mortgage or rent is such a nonissue it's not worth even mentioning. Just because taxes are WAY too low doesn't mean that overall life in the US isn't very expensive compared to other places. It's just that some things are way too expensive in the US, but taxes are not one of them.

And yeah, wealth inequality is a profound issue in the US. So much so that even him, the millionaire, is peanuts compared to those that hold the vast majority of wealth in the country. Just because he's richer than you and me doesn't mean he's two faced for wanting to fight back against the rich, it's just that he's just richer than you.

@FireEmblem_Man: The IRS is your friend. They are there to make sure you don't pay more taxes than you need to. The only people that would not like the IRS are those that are not paying what they are supposed to. Which explains why the rich are spending a lot of money and time on right wing media to make people not like the IRS.

It's true that Nintendo games are too expensive.

It's also true that Nintendo's games are worth the money more than competitor's products.

They know what they are doing.

You see Willy there are plenty of ideologically driven folks who, when the rubber meets the road, fail to live up to their ideologically driven viewpoints and instead are simply motivated by their self-interest and the "perception" of their righteous goal-taking to make themselves feel good. This is also why so-called "socialists" like Bernie Sanders are very wealthy. That's why I ask if you feel your taxes are too low... do you think you pay enough? What is enough for someone like you Willy?

If you are actually curious about me specifically, because I work in a different state than I live, I have to pay my home state the taxes they didn't get from my work. I don't get tax refunds, so I always must pay. That's not a problem though, the state I live in is better than the state I work in, in part because they have a (slightly) better run government that has better resources because they have better tax revenue.

If you are asking because you feel uncomfortable with the conversation or because you think that people can't actually be narcissistic all the time and only want money all the time, then who cares? Bernie is a millionaire because of his books, but he can still campaign a lot to remove tax cuts to billionaires, partly because he does actually care about the poor, and/or partly because the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is about a billion dollars. The wealth inequality is so large that someone like Bernie and you are about the same wealth-wise compared to those who are super wealthy, even though you and me would consider a millionaire to be extremely wealthy compared to a "normal" person.

@nirgal: Yeah! I don't know what the Steam version of Chrono Trigger is like, but Chrono Trigger in general I'd consider to be the best RPG ever made.

I climbed Mt Garfield in New Hampshire today. Great climb! I've done 45 of the 48 peaks of the white mountains. Great views! Great effort, just a really great day.

That's awesome!

You can donate more of your money to the US Treasury if you believe your taxes are too low. :)

Sadly, one person's money is not enough to maintain roads or services for an entire country. That's why taxes are so important.
