"Majora's Mask is a great game, but it isn't for everybody. Even though it uses the same engine that drove Ocarina of Time, and the gameplay is the same on the surface, the adventure is extremely different. Some will appreciate the game's differences, while others will find the game's focus on minigames and side quests tedious and slightly out of place. While the game definitely has a lot going for it, and in the end comes together in a pretty tight package, skeptics should definitely rent this one first."
8.3 out of 10 - GameSpot (by Jeff Gerstmann on October 25, 2000)
@moviespot: Do note that there are A TON of titles which got a 9.5 or a 9.7 from GameSpot, which obviously aren't included in this list. But they were given grades pretty close to a 10.
With the current scoring system giving a 9.7 or a 9.5 isn't possible, which is a reason for there being quite a bit more perfect scores in recent years than in the 2001-2010 period.
@malikmmm: It's not really a niche. The game is too big for a niche. Divinity: Original Sin sold about 1.4 million copies on Steam alone. And a lot of copies on the other platforms as well.
This game, has so far already sold over 500,000 copies on Steam. And it's just out!!
You think they all use the same and old engine??? They do not. Prey, for example is a Cry Engine game. Wolfenstein II and Doom are IdTech 6 games. The Cry Engine and IdTech 6 engine are very modern engines.
GameSpot links to a 2004 Catan game. But there's actually a much more recent Catan game as well. I haven't played it myself, but it's available for PC and Mac. Play through your browser, or get the game on Steam. Just search for it on Steam, I don't know if it's any good, it has mixed reviews. But on the other hand, would the 2004 game still work on a modern system with Windows 10?? And the 2004 version lacked online multiplayer according to the GameSpot version, well the 2017 game does have online multiplayer.
@razor_rj: Nah that would be for systems far weaker than the typical potato. You'd be surprised how much a potato can deliver. Usually they play at 1280x720 or 1024x768, all settings to the lowest, and still get about 25 fps average.
@cyanicember: Dumb dumb dumb. You do realize a GTX 1070 is a HIGH-END card meant for 1440p ULTRA gaming at at least 60 fps? You do realize that if you can get nearly 60 fps on 1080p MEDIUM with a GTX 1070 the game is extremely heavy? You do realize the game also isn't that pretty to look at?
You do realize that with a more affordable card like a GTX 1050 or a GTX 1050 Ti you have to drop to LOW settings to get anywhere near 60 fps? You do realize low settings looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/mGHbkBQ.jpg Which is extremely extremely ugly.
