@zmanbarzel: Learn to spot a troll man. Isn't it quite obvious from his replies that Dyshonest is a troll? Never feed trolls. You can present them with all the evidence in the world and they still won't admit fault.
@cosmicrays: I have a pretty strong CPU. Nothing god-like, but a good CPU. An Intel Core i5-4590 at stock clocks.
I have shadow distance on high I think, and God Rays on medium. I know that dropping shadow distance to medium would give me more fps, but I kinda like the shadows. I might eventually use the shadow boost mod that many people use. That mod dynamically adjusts the shadow distance based on a target fps. So the shadow distance is very low in the cities but high outside the cities. Check it out: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1822/?
How about first patching the performance of the game?? On consoles it struggles to reach 30 fps. On my GTX 970 it drops far below 60 in some urban environments.
@Mo60: Looking at the requirements: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 with 2 GB VRAM (current equivalent NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760) You are below the (current equivalent) minimum requirement (GTX 760). So that's not very good. It's never good to be below the minimum requirement.
Still, there are reports of people running the game on 1920x1080, 55-65 fps, low settings on a 650 ti. So with a 750ti I would expect a locked 60 fps on 1600x900 low settings. So I would expect the game to be playable.
If you can settle for 30 fps, you could even get medium(-high) settings.
I have an i5-4590, GTX 970, 16 GB RAM, Windows 10 64-bit. I pretty much meet the recommended requirements. If you're nitpicky, you could say my processor is a bit weaker than an i7-3770, but then again, I'd like to think it's stronger than an AMD FX-8350.
I have pre-ordered the game and am gonna see how I like it at the upcoming beta. I'm only gonna cancel my pre-order if the game is no fun at all. But I expect there is some fun to be had, so the pre-order is probably not gonna get cancelled.
People who've already played the game on PC say that with a 650ti you can get 55-65 fps at 1080p low settings. That screams good optimization to me. It means that with the minimum spec PC you can probably hit close to 60 fps at 1080p (low settings). A 970 is really not that strange as a recommended spec, this game can look AMAZING on ultra, and the 970 has been on sale since 2014. It's not quite the strongest card on the market (a 980ti or a Titan-X is way stronger) and they will launch new graphics cards in 2016 which are far stronger than a 980ti. So, for a 2016 game, setting the 970 is recommended is just fine. Especially when the graphics are awesome.
@beantownsean: Why pay for a beta key? You can pre-order and get a beta key for free. If you don't like the beta, cancel the pre-order and get ALL your money back. Even if you do like the beta, you can still cancel the pre-order, and wait for the game to be on sale. Either way, you don't spend a dime on the beta.
