"Finally (and most disappointingly), Firewatch suffers from minor yet persistent technical issues on PS4: Every time the game autosaves or quietly loads a new section of the world, the framerate noticeably stutters. That means every few minutes, there's a second or two of chugging, which hinders the immersion in a game that thrives on atmosphere. I also experienced two crashes--one while playing, and one while in a loading screen between story chapters. The good news is, these problems seem far less prevalent on PC."
Then why not give the PC version a higher grade? An 8? The minor technical issues are one of the two negative points at the end of the review. If these issues are far less persistent on PC then the PC version deserved a higher grade.
@karenwen: Really? I checked that paragraph and didn't see that. Also did a browser search and the only result was this post by you. No pun intented, but I would really suggest measuring your eyes, as you might need subscription glasses. Really, no pun intented, just saying.
@dlrecca: Yeah... uhh.. kinda don't agree. Just because the cracks share an underlying method doesn't make them very similar. CPY's cracks work for every CPU. CPY also didn't have to collect any CPU data. And no CPU data collected by 3DM is used in the CPY cracks. 3DM's cracks were emulators which had enormous amounts of CPU data inside them. Without the CPU data there was no working crack. And 3DM's cracks didn't work on every CPU.
CPY really took a vastly different approach. Their cracks really work for every CPU. It's a vastly different approach to cracking Denuvo. CPY's crack runs the same on every CPU. This is vastly different from 3DM's crack, which changes based on what CPU it detects.
CPY's cracks were of vastly better quality, and really not very similar to 3DM's cracks at all. Massive amounts of credit go to CPY for these really high-quality cracks that work on every system.
CPY hasn't released any game in months. They are probably trying to crack the 2nd version of Denuvo. Cracking the 1st version took them quite long, cracking the 2nd version will take at least as long. But you can surely expect them to be working on it.
@hermitkiller: There's lots of piracy on the current-gen consoles as well. In Brazil you can "lend" your PS4 for an hour, pay 100 dollars, and they will put a dozen games on the PS4.
@Cassius103: I think what sets 3DM apart is that they crack Chinese-language games (you can change language to English though). And when a game isn't available in Chinese (as is often the case) they release a Chinese Language Patch, rewriting everything that is English in the game to Chinese. So they serve the Chinese market mainly.
For the Western Market the loss of 3DM is not a big loss. Most of 3DM's cracks were a bit buggy, and their Denuvo cracks were horrible. Very buggy and worthless. There have been very high quality cracks for Denuvo games though. From a different release group called CPY. All of CPY's cracks for Denuvo games work properly, on all systems.
So 3DM stopping cracking (Denuvo) games is not a real loss. Their Denuvo cracks were an unfinished and broken mess. Now the people that refuse to buy their games will simply have to wait for a different release group (such as CPY) to release high-quality cracks. Or, you know, try to put 1 dollar per day in a sock, and actually BUY the game.
@cip_raziel: Not really. Since nothing in the world is called "Denuovo", you can't really advertise for it either. There is no copy-protection called "Denuovo". It doesn't exist.
@GhoX: Other cracking groups have made far better Denuvo cracks. 3DM's cracks were never very good to begin with, but their Denuvo cracks were horrible. Look at CPY, who have cracked A LOT of Denuvo games. And every single one of those cracks actually works perfectly fine.
Other groups will crack the Denuvo games which CPY hasn't cracked yet. Or CPY itself. It might take several months up to a year though.
@mdinger: Agreed. This is simply bad journalism. Not knowing anything about the subject you write about. Anyone who has the least amount of interest in piracy knows Denuvo and how its spelled.
@TheJamin: Yeah well, you have a strange selection of games then. 80% of the games I play have no proper SLI support on launch. That goes for many others too. And you wonder why SLI got a bad rep??
@TheJamin: Yeah, it does make a world of difference. One 970 is a completely trouble-free world, just fun gaming without issues. Adding a second card opens up a whole new world of SLI problems. Almost every new game release is suddenly broken on launch. Some titles get fixed months later, some titles are never fixed for SLI users. Sure, you can disable one card, but then you might as well throw all your cash in the toilet and flush it down.
