@mrfriki: There have been many games in the past with Enhanced Editions. For example: Witcher, Witcher 2. And there have been many more games with GOTY editions which include all DLC and all patches.
I can wait one week. That's no problem at all. Just make sure the game is shipped in an optimized state. Far Cry 4 on PC got a lot of post-release optimizations.
@Holoogamooga_: If the Nintendo NX becomes a success, and many people buy the system and buy the third-party games, then I don't really see the problem. First of all I don't expect the PS5 before 2020. Secondly, when the PS5 launches, there will still be multiple years of releases for the Nintendo NX. Look at the PS3 and Xbox 360, there are still a lot of 2015 releases for those consoles. And the gap in hardware quality between a PS4 and a PS3 is probably MUCH larger than the gap between a PS5 and a Nintendo NX. So it will be easier to port a PS5 game to Nintendo NX then it is to port a PS4 game to PS3.
@Holoogamooga_: I disagree. PS4 games already look beautiful. If the Nintendo NX is more powerful than the PS4, it could mean even better graphics, a higher resolution, or a higher framerate.
Imagine a PS4 title running at 900p, 30 fps. That same title could run at 1080p 30 fps on the Nintendo console. Or it could run at 900p 60 fps. Or it could run at 900p 30 fps with significantly increased draw distances and better effects. Or, if the console is really powerful, it could mean running the game at 1080p 60 fps with improved graphics.
So yes, there is a lot of potential for a console which is more powerful than the PS4. It could mean 60 fps gaming for all titles. Or it could mean 1080p for all titles. Or it could mean the consoles finally have shadow draw distances which are a lot further. Or all of these combined.
If the Nintendo NX is really more powerful than the PS4 then I suspect a lot of multiplatform titles to release for that platform as well. It's totally not comparable to the Wii U, which had really bad launch timing. The Wii U was a bit more powerful than a PS3 but it launched at the end of the PS3's lifecycle. The Nintendo NX will launch when the lifecycle of the PS4 is not even at 1/3. That's a big difference. The PS4 has years and years of new titles ahead. Lots of those titles could make it to the Nintendo NX with improved graphics.
@bobafetthatesu: Lol, you really believe that Gamespot is going to write that? I fully expect them to mention Batman: Arkham Knight, but they are definitely not going to write that they can't recommend PC gaming. I strongly believe that they are going to write that overall 2015 was a good year for PC gaming. There were many titles released for the PC, and a mid-range PC can play almost all of them at a better framerate and better image quality than the consoles. We will see tomorrow who's right. I think GameSpot is going to focus mainly on interesting developments for PC gamers. Lots of interesting stuff happened in 2015. A very good example are the releases of Windows 10 and Direct X 12. They will write that these are positive developments. Windows 10 for example includes cross-play between PC gamers and Xbox One gamers for select titles. And Direct X 12 will lower the CPU load. I do expect them to note that there aren't many Direct X 12 titles yet, so 2016 will really be the big year for Direct X 12.
