There are two kinds of games in this world

Over the next few days, I am going to be posting my 50 favorite games of all time because like many gamers, I have an insatiable fetish to list games in some kind of order. However, I am going to divide my list into two lists of 25. One list will be the "one time" games, where the first play through the story is the main thing that the game has to offer. Final Fantasy, Halo, Metal Gear and Zelda games fit this. The other catagory is the "multiple play" games where the game is not story driven and the game is played in mostly quick sessions. Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk any racing, or any sports games fit here. If you are interested in the games that I love, or you want to see some great games to check out: check back here in a day or two.

I Hate San Andreas.

So this game is more popular than god and I finally got around to borrowing it from a friend, within the first hour I had to turn it off. The game played ok, but I couldn't get myself to like any of the characters. The entire idea of gang violence to earn reputation in the streets is not anything that I want to be a part of. Cant these guys just get real jobs? Anyway, I know I am in a minority with disliking this game, even ignoring all the damage it has done to the industry. Since this is my journal, don't flame me. Luckily, I didn't buy this game.

Could we have some real characters?

Ive recently been playing these old lucusarts adventure games (Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle) and they make me realise, games today need to get back to more unique and interesting characters like the ones in those games. It seems that we are begainning to see more and more deadpan characters who feel no emotion or change. Master Chief is awesome looking but I would perfer to have a hero who contributed to the game with their personality. I agree with people in the fact that Raiden was a complete dweep, but I think his inclusion really helped make sons of liberty so great. However the worst example of this is the prince, who went from a cool, ponderous and unique hero in his first game to a flat out uninteresting jerk in Warrior within. I'm not saying all game heros should be wusses, I just think that the developers could do more in making them seem like real people.
