[QUOTE="Shazenab"]^^^ Maybe its uk thing then, but as it stands uk houses are very small. Its not like we spread our pcs, consoles and tvs leaps and bounds apart.Ontain

no. i think for most PC gamers they are pretty close.

LOL...I bet they could have a scientific study that would show the older you get the further apart those things get.

Consoles are for the home theater. PC's are in the bedrooms for the kids and offices for the adults.

ok kids, a ps3 running linux would not be able to run any decent pc gamesaudioaxes

Did you read the article...never mind, it's obvious you did not.

the latency that i'm talking about isn't network latency solely but more on the time it takes to convert a 720-1080p to the stream, then to send it to the client and have it decode it. Ontain

If you follow the link they have a video of them playing Crysis...honestly if it can handle that I've got no worries.

wow...does everyone here live in bachelor apartments or do most of you simply like to hate?

My high-end PC is in my office, and I have others throughout the house...but my home theater is in the basement. Now I've always played "Total War 2" for example in the office...but you can be sure with this I'll enjoy playing it downstairson the big screen and it won't take any of the "Buy a new PC or move the rig" ideas you all have.

As for latency...it's on your internal home network...so you're talking what less then 10ms.

Though it does mean I don't need a high-end PC in my living room...for any PC title.

Ontain

I can guarentee you that the experience of playing streamed will not be as good as playing it on the pc itself.

first since that pc needs to run the encoding and streaming program while playing the game your performance will be worse and probably have lag as well. basically you'll need an even more powerful pc than you would have needed.

Did you actually read the article or is this just a knee jerk reaction to something you personally dislike?

"Moreover, you will not experience any sort of lag"

lol...and since I have high-end PC's, PS3, 360 and nice HT setup any game that is only on the PC that I want to play while lazing on the couch in surround sound I can.

I fail to see how any of you think this is a poor deal since you either have the capability or it doesn't matter to you.

Considering that Sony is removing BC from the PS3 tostop people from playing PS2 titles this must have them a tad bit annoyed.

Called the StreamMyGame Server, this player is absolutely free and enables PC games to be played remotely on Sony's latest next-generation console. Basically, the server converts coverts the PC game's audio and video into a Game Stream and send it over a home network to a second computer where the gamer can play the game.

By second computer, we mean that it can either be a PC, laptop, PS3 or even any Linux device. Moreover, you will not experience any sort of lag and to top it all, the second computer does not even need to have the game installed.

The newly introduced StreamMyGame Server is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and all computer games based on Microsoft's DirectX8, DirectX9 and DirectX10. This includes the latest and hugely popular games like Crysis, PES 2008 and OpenGL standards.

Moreover, the StreamMyGame Server is also compatible with the above mentioned operating systems up to Super HDTV 3200x2400. It is also compatible with Linux installations including Ubuntu and Yellow Dog Linux which has been highly recommended for the PS3.

According to CEO Richard Faria, "Playing the latest PC game on the PS3 is now a reality at HD resolution and fast frame-rates. I have a PS3 in my living room and PC in my office and my two kids both have old PCs in their bedrooms. Now we can play games anywhere around the home. StreamMyGame's technology networks the power of a main PC so it can be used to play high end games on other PCs, PS3s and Linux devices".

We believe our new Linux player will enable many new devices to connect to the StreamMyGame service. We would like to see "STBs and DMAs using our technology and we have already begun development for mobile OS such as Windows Mobile and Android," added Richard.

The Server will enable PC games to be played remotely over broadband networks that have sufficient capacity such as Verizon's FiOS, Comcast's Wideband and British Telecom's FTTP.

All you have to do is fill out the registration form here. It's not a hoax because StreamMyGame has also released an actual video showing Crysis being played on a client running on the PS3 and a Linux PC.

The free StreamMyGame Server will be available in March 2008. According to the company, publishers will also be able to use StreamMyGame to establish Pay-for-Play services to existing PCs, PS3s and STBs.

Too bad the actualy movies are worlds behind.

First it was the codex

Then it was the content

I really enjoyed Planetside, the options and class structure along with the large scale battles 100vs.100vs.100 were wild.

But it got repetitive; if Huxley was akin to that but with some smaller group focus I'd still be very interested. And the guilds and V3.5 rules always seem to work well in games of this sort.

So the only question is how much they end up charging. $5 I'm all in $15 and I'm probably going to pass.
