It depends on what you are thinking of buying and how much you are planning to spend. Its impossible to know with the information you've provided.

no S#$@ its not funny to you because its about you everyone else seems to think its funnymastershake575

Actually what I find funny is the continued dissing of Dell, which happens to be the second fastest rig in this joint ranked in the Official 3DMark06 Rank thread. I have a great sense of humor... :D

I am sure once Intel releases this to manufacturing Dell will be among the first to offer a XPS model with that option. I, however, will not be buying a new PC for a while....

My cousin's brother's girlfriend has an aunt that told her her sister's husband's neighbor has a coworker that eats at a restaurant where this guy works for this other guy that said his wife overheard at her work her boss' secretary talk to some guy in accounting that does the taxes for some other guy in nVidia that said they have a card that will run 100 times better than the 8800GTX.

I believe it.

Seems like a lot of people have some junk computers that work fine but aren't really good for anything.

I know I do. I don't know why I keep them, though.

Nostalgia. I am planning on hooking up my P166MHz and see if its too fast to run Kings Quest V or Rex Nebular and theCosmic Gender Bender...

What about the clicking?da1on2

Clicking is bad. Back up any important information if you can, and get yourself a new hard drives. Hard drives are not supposed to click.

Oh, we know it's good, we just find it a waste of money. Example: Alienware sells you a QX6850 (3.0 GHz) for $1150. A builder could jusst get a q6600 for $270 and overclock it so it's performance would equal the QX6850. imrlybord7

And you can overclock the QX6850 to wipe the floor with the Q6600. So what's your point? Just because something is expensive, it doesnt mean its a waste. The QX6850 is king of the hill right now, and you can overclock it and have the biggest monster rig, for now. For some people, that is not a waste - its spending money on something they like and want.

Plus, Alienware overprices their video cards by a good $150 (I've checked), and ram by at least $100 (once again, I checked. Other than that they aren't too overpriced in terms of parts, but they charge a lot for actually building and they generally force you to choose between something a bit weak, something really high end, or something ridiculously high end. Most people want something moderately high end because it maxes out games (usually, if not then close) for cheap. imrlybord7

Well, SOME people just want to order something, have it come assembled, and not have to worry about it. They don't want to hunt down prices to save a few bucks and install it themselves. They want to buy everything from one vendor, get a full system warranty on the whole thing, and enjoy their purchase playing games and not tinkering with their PC.

My point is that if Alienware were so terrible as SOME here say, they would have gone out of business, period. No company can be so horribly over priced and have such crappy computers and still be in business. It just stretches the imagination. An we dont have the "Dell" excuse (which, incidentally, is the biggest PC manufacturer in the planet) and say they survive from "corporate" PCs. Alienware makes GAMING machines, period. They have done so since they started many many years ago, and they are still in business. That is because they are building machines and people are buying them. There is a REASON for that.

Can a similar performing machine be had cheaper somewhere else? Sure. Absolutely. No one is arguing that. But not everyone is interested in scapping together a PC with pieces and parts they hunt down in the four corners of the internet. Some folks prefer to get everything bought, built and serviced from ONE place. And THAT is not a waste. It is just a different approach for people with different priorities. That's all.

Alienware makes great PCs. If you have the cash, go for it. You'll have a blast playing games on those beasts...

Moving your computer on CAN damage your hard drive. Depends on how hard you move it and whether the hard drive heads were moving at the time. However, that error doesnt necesarily mean your HD is bad. You should run a hard drive diagnostic to be sure.
