The person with the better graphics will likely be the one with the smaller dot pitch, in this case, given the same resolution, the person with the smaller monitor. In order to get the same image on a larger monitor, the dots have to be bigger, and the image may not be as sharp.

You compound the problem by not running the LCD at its native resolution. Doing that virtually guarantees you fuzzy graphics.

Having said all this, a 8800GTX will eat a 19 or 21 monitor for breakfast. Dont worry about it.

You should get the biggest monitor you can afford. The 8800GTS 320 will be able to drive anything up to 19" without breaking a sweat.

I've had excellent luck with Maxtors. Just keep them well ventilated, and dont carry them around like cheap luggage. :)

Alienware makes excellent PCs. If you want a top of the line PC that you wont have to worry about for 2 years, you cant go wrong with Alienware.

true, you get more bang for your buck buying midrange and upgrading more often. there isn't much difference between

athlon xp 2000+ and 2400+ or 2500+ and 3000+ or 3800x2 and 4600x2 but the price difference is pretty big

imprezawrx500

Well, I dont know about that - if you added up all the upgrades and time you spent, it would be that much more bang, but to each his own.

5 years is pushing it. A $3000 PC maxed out with the LATEST CPU and tech will last you for serious gaming 3 years AT MOST, maybe less if you demand top rez and top fps. And you will still need to probably upgrade at least the GPU at some point to get 3 years from the PC. For $900? Doubtful you can max out Crysis. This assumes you need the WHOLE PC, not just some pieces and parts.

If I tried to run Bioshock or STALKER on my 3.5 year old Dell XPS Gen2, it would likely choke. If I turned down the rez and graphics settings, I could MAYBE get it to run somewhat decent, but not great. 3.5 years ago it was top of the line.

Thanks.

I read Quake 4 and ASSUMED Quake:Enemy Territory. Sorry,my bad. Quake 4 is capped at 60fps with no way of removing that cap (based on what I read, please someone enlighten me if that is not the case). com_unlockfps 1 in Enemy Territory is supposed to work. We shall see...

EDIT: Nope, that and com_unlock_timingmethod dont work. The demo seems capped at 30fps. Oh well, it looks and plays great anyway.
