Somewhere between deciding which game is graphics king and Xbox Live vs. Psn vs. Steam, we forget that Nintendo is part of this generation and I for one think that is insane.
The fact of the matter is that Nintendo is largely judged differently (arguably more favorably) then the other platforms and this is something I cannot stand for.
Here are my opinions i'm going to state as FACT to sir up debate per system wars etiquette :P
Fact #1 - If Microsoft or Sony released a console that was non-HD in a HD Era, they would be bashed 10x worse than the Wii has been.
Fact #2 - If Microsoft or Sony released a console that mainly lives off of casuals (oh a Wii? Itz A family friendlies!) and casual trash games and with a few excellent first partytitles, Guess what? Same thing.
Fact #3 - If Microsoft or Sony released a console first with motion controls, it would not be (oh teh innovators of gameing!), it would be bashed, again, mercilessly
Fact #4 - If Microsoft or Sony released a console with online play as poor as the Wii's, well by now you should know where I am going with this.
Point is, the Nintendo Wii gets a free pass because the company is a living legend in a lot of people's mind, so of course all of it's flaws are made to seem not that bad or evenworse in some cases, as a positive!
Alas, the Nintendo Wii, while possessing a few innovative and incredibly fun games (i.e. No More Heroes), just doesn't stack up to the other competing platforms. They are relying on an older generation who enjoy replaying the past. Which is why they keep bringing back old franchises (i.e. Goldeneye, Donkey Kong). Their hope is that maybe they can catch the younger generation with the same games and hopefully they grow into loyal customers.
Good Luck.
