@saturatedbutter: Keep in mind, production cost is totally irrelevant to the consumer. The only thing that matters is market demand. If price per unit cost ends up being too high that's completely on Luckey/Oculus. $600 + the upgraded PC for a peripheral IS high for mass market.

So...Releases one week after the new Star Wars movie hits theaters. A property no one but gamers is aware of. Fassbender (despite being incredibly talented) is not a big audience draw.
