I nearly forgot about this title until the other day; I also forgot that, even without knowing really anything about how it's planned mechanics actually work in the game (as there is a lot of secrecy around this game), I'm still anticipating this more than a lot of the AAA titles coming to any platform.
This is what I've been waiting for, something that really does look next-generation; and while appearances can be deceiving, I do believe this will end up pulling through with the concepts that are in mind and that are obviously in the works.
If you aren't familiar with this title, I suggest you take a look at their official website to affiliate yourself wih what Project Offset is. Also check out YouTube for some development videos that are sure to impress.
What makes this project so exciting, in my opinion? Well, aside from the jaw dropping visuals combined with great artistic design and a real sense of environment, it looks like a lot of work is being done on the back-history of the world this title shall take place in. A lot of thought put into the setting of a game that aims to be this epic is a real bonus which really fleshes things out and makes them feel real; something that a lot of developers or writers don't really care to do these days it seems (obviously we're not talking about new IP's like Mass Effect and the like).
Next, the hybrid combat system looks fantastic. First-person and third-person perspectives mixed together, retaining a polished and exciting strategic combat system full of countless options such as grabs, parrying maneuvers, attack combinations, blocking, dodging, and projectile reflection whilst keeping the game balanced and intense.
Parallel stoyrtelling where multiple character experiences unfold on their own for you the player to experience through each individual's eyes; storylines for each character that you experience are said to interact with one another at a certain point which should make for some interesting writing to pull it off, and of course (if pulled off correctly) be something really great that we haven't seen before, if only a small handful of times.
We cannot forget about multiplayer, of course, which is also promised. Your typical game modes are offered, as well as an objective-based mode that leaves off where the story ends for the single-player experience. I'm exciting to see if this can be done right, as I'm a sucker for single-player games more than multiplayer, however if both can intermingle than I'm especially excited.
I'll leave it at that and urge you all to check it out yourself at Project Offset's website. Discuss!
