[QUOTE="Rokudan96"]I blogged about this, but NG 1 wasnt hard. It was just mercerlessly punishing towards button mashers. Once you learn duck/roll/slash/jump away, the game wasnt that hard.Keitarourashima
Yeah, the counterattacks and the block n' dodge system was perfect, only one to blame for ur own death is you.

I concur as well. Ninja Gaiden is about skill, and I'm glad the difficulty is where it is at, and I only hope Ninja Gaiden 2 offers more challenge than the first. This teaches people to actually think and use some strategy. I'm really disappointed with how a lot of games are dumbed-down because for some reason the industry thinks the average gamer should be "babied."

I nearly forgot about this title until the other day; I also forgot that, even without knowing really anything about how it's planned mechanics actually work in the game (as there is a lot of secrecy around this game), I'm still anticipating this more than a lot of the AAA titles coming to any platform.

This is what I've been waiting for, something that really does look next-generation; and while appearances can be deceiving, I do believe this will end up pulling through with the concepts that are in mind and that are obviously in the works.

If you aren't familiar with this title, I suggest you take a look at their official website to affiliate yourself wih what Project Offset is. Also check out YouTube for some development videos that are sure to impress.

What makes this project so exciting, in my opinion? Well, aside from the jaw dropping visuals combined with great artistic design and a real sense of environment, it looks like a lot of work is being done on the back-history of the world this title shall take place in. A lot of thought put into the setting of a game that aims to be this epic is a real bonus which really fleshes things out and makes them feel real; something that a lot of developers or writers don't really care to do these days it seems (obviously we're not talking about new IP's like Mass Effect and the like).

Next, the hybrid combat system looks fantastic. First-person and third-person perspectives mixed together, retaining a polished and exciting strategic combat system full of countless options such as grabs, parrying maneuvers, attack combinations, blocking, dodging, and projectile reflection whilst keeping the game balanced and intense.

Parallel stoyrtelling where multiple character experiences unfold on their own for you the player to experience through each individual's eyes; storylines for each character that you experience are said to interact with one another at a certain point which should make for some interesting writing to pull it off, and of course (if pulled off correctly) be something really great that we haven't seen before, if only a small handful of times.

We cannot forget about multiplayer, of course, which is also promised. Your typical game modes are offered, as well as an objective-based mode that leaves off where the story ends for the single-player experience. I'm exciting to see if this can be done right, as I'm a sucker for single-player games more than multiplayer, however if both can intermingle than I'm especially excited.

I'll leave it at that and urge you all to check it out yourself at Project Offset's website. Discuss!

If they added co-op or competitive mulitplayer, that would be awesome, make the game even longer.

They also NEED more autosaves. I know it may sound stupid but since I just got the game I didn't know it wouldn't autosave in the middle of a mission, causing me to jump back from the fight with Benezia on Noveria to halfway through the Mako sequence, partly because I thought I couldn't save because you can't save at certain times.

A game like this is to massive on it's scale to allow for any type of multiplayer, and such a feature would only ruin the game. BioWare is one of the few companies out there that focus purely on the single player aspect of their titles, and this is for good reason. Also, the gameplay mechanics in Mass Effect just wouldn't work as a multiplayer title, which is pretty obvious.

Definitley an issue with emulation, I would assume, as I never experienced any of these problems when I played Knights of the Old Republic on my Xbox.

Hopefully someone else whom has played this title on their 360 can offer their experiences?

I really can't believe that people are so preoccupied with a numerical rating system that they let it blind them to what they personally enjoy in a video game. Lost Odyssey got a 7.5 from GameSpot, who cares? I sure don't, I'm buying this game for reasons I've already stated numerous times and a number isn't going to change that.

Anyone who was excited about Lost Odyssey knows that this is a classic Japanese roleplaying game with modern flare; if they didn't than they obviously never took the time to do any research. With that said, those whom knew what they were looking for with Lost Odyssey should still be excited about this title, because everything in terms of this being a story-driven, classic Japanese roleplaying game have been extremely positive.

In fairness to the reviewer, this score is quite appropriate for Lost Odyssey; especially when you take into consideration the score that Mass Effect received here at GameSpot. Lost Odyssey has a couple of technical issues, doesn't break any next-gen barriers when it comes to roleplaying games, however what it does (being a classic Japanese roleplaying game), it does very well. This makes it a great game, however it isn't truly next generation, and so it obviously isn't going to get an extremely high score.

But in the end, again, who cares? I'm still getting Lost Odyssey, I know what to expect from it, and I'm very excited to experience what it has to offer; you should be as well.

Mass Effect is probably one of the best RPGs I've ever played, and definitley one of the best on the 360. Get hold of the experience it offers now, because it is a great one that you will never forget and can relive many times over.

I've never played Eternal Sonata, but I plan to in the future, and I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Also, if you haven't played Knights of the Old Republic, even though it is an Xbox title, you should check it out, along with Jade Empire.

I honestly don't see what people see in Lost Oddyssey.

It's a mediocre game at best...

FearTheRain

It's a blast from a great era of Japanese roleplaying games; this is what people see in it. Not to mention the team involved in creating this homage are what made these roleplaying games what they are today and you can start to see the excitement involved.

The amount we pay for Live is so tiny that I don't understand why people complain about it; not saying that the original poster was complaining. As for downloading more content if the service was free, I think this is a moot point. Content itself would cost more to balance off the free service, therefor people might actually download LESS in the end.

Everything has a price for a reason. People out there create gamerpictures and themes, and they want to get paid for them. Companies also want to make money off of these creations; we are in a capitalist world and this is not going to change until the next revolution.

Either war, Live is a great service and I will pay the service fee with a smile on my face. To answer the question though, I wouldn't download more. I'm picky with the downloads I make, I don't feel it necissary to throw my money away on content that won't truly enhance my experience with a certain title or my experience with my 360 in general.

Definitley get Ninja Gaiden Black; there are some additions that are very worth it, as already explained. If your only method that is practical is to download it, then do it; this game shouldn't be missed, especially with the sequel arriving soon.

If you have the cash grab yourself a 120GB HD as well, then you won't have to worry about the 6GB, and you'll be ready for releases down the road. As for slow downloads, you can spend weeks trying to find this title at stores or online, or you can just start downloading it now and within a week it is yours.

Good luck on your travels!
