Lost Odyssey is going to be a great experience. I'm excited for this game a lot, however I also know exactly what to expect from it, and have been following it since it's initial announcement.

This is a classic Japanese roleplaying game, with some modern flare; nothing less, and nothing more. Does that mean it isn't going to be great? Hell no, that is what makes it great in my opinion, and that is exactly the experience I am looking for. People whom degrade this game because at it's core it is a classic Japanese roleplaying game should'n't be playing it, because that is what it is, an homage from a modern era.

If you are excited about Lost Odyssey because you know exactly what you are getting into, by all means buy this and support it. Otherwise, do some research and make your decision.

It was a limited release, yes. It's nothing special, but it can be a little fun online for a while to change things up.

Big battles you can take part of.

More original story. Its almost a recycled KOTOR.

Darth Malak= Saren

SPECTER= Jedi

Reaper Power= Star Forge

Galactic Council= Jedi Council

Biotics= The Force

And your also chasing around saren just like you did with malak

i like kotor better

sallyboy233

I can't believe you even went there. Going to have some spoilers below, so...

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Sorry about that, anyway, to continue. The story is NOTHING like Knights of the Old Republic, and therefor can hardly be a recycled version of it. Different antagonists with different goals, much different prestory, and a way different culture within the game's universe.

As for Darth Malak and Saren, they have barely anything in common, aside from being the antagonist to the protagonist. Darth Malak's goal was to crush the Jedi and rule the galaxy as the true Dark Lord of the Sith. These goals were rash, destructive, and straight forward. Saren's goal was completely different; he knew he was a slave to the Reapers and accepted his fate. He wanted you and the galactic community to join with him, to serve the Reapers, to save lives (unknowingly to him that the Reapers would obviously consume everything once they arrived). After your refusal to cooperate, he still wanted to bring the Reapers into Citadel Space so they could unleash their "cleansing," although he now wanted you and everyone else to be within such a genocide. Saren's goal isn't rash or straight forward, it is filled with both thought and greys in morality.

Spectre's and Jedi are only similar in that they are an elite group, and nothing more. Jedi abandon all emotion and are guided by a very strict code of ethics; where Spectre's are almost driven by their emotion and have no laws whatsoever to limit them in their travels. Jedi's go through a strict training program in both ability and morality their entire lives to learn how to harness the Force; Spectre's receive no training whatsoever and may not even necessarily have any supernatural forces at their disposal.

Next, let's move on to the Reapers and your comparisson of them to the Star Forge. Number one, how can you even compare a sentient being, the Reapers, to a factory that produces war ships? This is laughable at best. The Reapers want to harvest civilization, and do so in cycle (although we are never meant to know exactly what this reason TRULY is, only speculate on it), where the Star Forge is a tool used by someone to create a weapon. Yes, very similar indeed.

Biotics and the Force are only comparable in that they are a supernatural force, yet even this is unfair to say, as biotic powers are not supernatural at all and are quite scientific in nature. One must train in the Force for a very long time before they can harness it, and this is indeed a rare to even be considered for Force training. Biotics are born, or contaminated, and are scientifically modified to harness the mass effect to alter the world around them. The Force is also in a sense a religeon, whether you are Dark or Light, where biotic powers have no moral affiliation whatsoever spiritually or in their useability.

Your comparison of the Jedi and Galactic Council's shouldn't even be brought up, as by definition in the sense of how both Council's are orchestrated (a group elected or appointed as an advisory or legislative body). I shouldn't need to say anymore, and if I do, you only prove my point even more.

Sorry, try again. Do not attack this storytelling marvel at it's core with false allegations.

There is an awsome lineup for the 360 this year; although a lot of games are under the radar. Here's a few I'm excited for, although all of them might not make it in 2008:

Alan Wake(X), Alone in the Dark, Fable 2(X), Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2(X), Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo Wars(X), Huxley(X), The Last Remnant, Lost Odyssey(X), Ninja Gaiden 2(X), Prototype, Resident Evil 5, Sid Meier's Civilizations Revolution, Soul Calibur IV, Splinter Cell: Conviction(X), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Street Fighter IV, and of course Too Human(X).

There are a decent amount of exclusives in that list, not to mention all of the other great software on both platforms. The only exclusive for the PS3 that I really care about is MGS4; I absolutely love that series and we may very well see a port down the road if sales don't balance out the development costs.

All in all, 2008 looks like an exciting year, regardless of what console you prefer, although the 360 is by far a very long ways away from having a mediocre software lineup.

Would definitely grab MGS4 if it came to the 360; and it should. This series is amazing and everyone should experience it. Only time will tell what happens here, because the only chance the 360 has of seeing MGS4 is if the PS3 version doesn't sell well at all when in accordance to development costs.

If sales are low, we can bet that Kanomi will invest on porting this to a larger user base. Do you think the MGS2 port to the original Xbox wasn't anything other than a user base test?

I really don't think you can compare the current edition of Devil May Cry to Ninja Gaiden; and for the record, Ninja Gaiden was here a LONG time before Devil May Cry was even thought about in a concept stage.

Devil May Cry looks bland now, and doesn't really offer the same experience that Ninja Gaiden has and will continue to offer. Ninja Gaiden is punishment, and is a real sense of accomplishment when you advance. I'm not saying Devil May Cry is a bad game, I'm just saying it isn't "great"in terms of what it has to offer. Pretty, yes, fun, sure, repetative and mindless; yes.

As for the original poster and his inquiries; not at all the same developer or someone being ripped off. Two totally different teams with two totally different goals, creating two totally different experiences. If you play and love Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry, you will experience something totally different when you switch to the other game.

Will definitely pick this up, and have been waiting for Lost Odyssey for a long time. It reviewers are holding it back because it is a JRPG that is their fault; as far as I'm concerned anyone who is excited about this game knows exactly that and expects that the gameplay mechanics that most classic JRPGs had.

Don't even bother feeding ammunition to people whom are that blatantly ignorant and equally so hindered in their mental capabilities, stika. THeir own tool is best used against them, ignorance, in which case we should provide such for their existance.

As for your signature, I totally disagree. :P

Oblivion, really. Yes, we all know that is on the 360 as well, however that is all I can think of that even offers remotely the same experience as Mass Effect, even though both games are entirely different.

The reason I say Oblivion is because it and Mass Effect both have that WOW factor that most games for a VERY long time have just failed to offer from beginning to end.
