Who exactly is harmed by the building of minarets? Seems like xenophobia to me. Obviously planning permission et cetera would be required,but it's a small tower, why is it so dangerous it has to be banned?

Doesn't really make me feel anything. I fear death, but believing something unimaginable and possibly unpleasant would happen afterwards would if anything make matters worse for me. I couldn't change my conclusion even if I wanted to, so the whole subject is moot. I'm not going to say I appreciate life more, or anything like that, as I've never seriously believed in an afterlife, so can't judge if that is the case or not.

@BumFluff122 I have to let you know that it is arrogant to say that all Christians deny the theory of evolution.

alexside1

When did he say that? And to be fair, I don't think many Christians believe in the full implications of naturalistic evolution. It's hard to reconcile theism with humanity's subsequent lack of "specialness".

[QUOTE="mattisgod01"]

Why is it that Humans are so inclined to blindly follow without question? All i know for sure is that religion has done more harm then good.

EMOEVOLUTION

And you'd be wrong. Majority of the technological benefits you have today come from people with religious back grounds.

But how many founded the new technologies because of their religious backgrounds? I don't necessarliy agree with mattisgod, but you can't claim religion is responsible for generators because Michael Faraday was religious.

Sorry, I attributed the firstquote to the wrong person initially, but it's fixed.

Every man needs something to believe in.. something to hold onto.

EMOEVOLUTION

Why? I'm happy considering us to be nothing more than blobs of carbon which have adapted to the point where we are capable of thought, on a miniscule ball of rock in a universe that has no concern about our wellbeing. I'm not trying to debate that view, but I don't see why I'd need to believe in something else for the benefit of my mental welfare

The only problems I have with religion is when it forces itself into political issues and the fanatics, which really ought to be regarded as an unfortunate byproduct. Plus the evangelists can be a pain, though fortunately I haven't had too many encounters with them myself.

Rock, and I honestly can't say why I like it. I find the sound appealing and that's the end of the matter.
