[QUOTE="BlueBarad"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]I agree. It shows that perhaps Gamespot values challenge in a game, as it directly affects the gameplay experience...almost more than anything else.
Now that I really think about it? The only thing more important than making a game feel like it has the right amount of challenge is making sure the controls aren't broken. Everything else would sit below. Why? Challenge is the salt of a game. The flavor. You make it too easy and it's like you take the spice out of food. Doesnt' taste right.
In this case (if this review is correct), this game may lose a lot of substance by it being too easy. Sometimes it's good for a weapon to have more releveance in a game than simply it looking cool.
...or maybe I'm crazy.
Dreams-Visions
Isn't that why we love Tetris or Portal for that matter?
It's the challenge.
Imagine Halo or Half-Life 2 without challenge.
Imagine a Mario game with no mind-stressing pits to have to avoid.
Imagine Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden with health pickups every 10 feet, every weapon doing massive damage.
Imagine a Zelda game with 5-minute mazes and bosses that don't really hurt you.
That's the salt of a game. Gotta have some challenge. There is simply no reason why there isn't a higher difficulty setting available for this game at the beginning.
But maybe some people don't care. I just don't get a lot of satisfaction from midlessly bashing enemies without real potential for penalty. But maybe that's just me.
QFT. This sums up whats wrong with the game perfectly. Another game that suffers from this fault co-incidently is Big Rigs, where you win every time.
