easy this http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11130AC8843&vpn=RR-B10-212P-G1&manufacture=COOLERMASTER
used this on mine cut temps by 20C.
k thx um noob question, how come in the compatible list it says Intel Processor: Core i7 Extreme -Core i7 -Core2 Extreme -Core2 Quad -Core2 Duo -Pentium -Celeron and the socket size of the 2500k says LGA 1555 but that size isnt listed on the heatsink so how do you know its compatible? It's compatible. I've installed three of those coolers on three separate computers, two of which were LGA1156. Since LGA1155 shares the same hole layout as LGA1156, it is compatible.

no im saying that a phenom II x4 980 is a phenom II x4 955 with a certain setting that is controlled by the motherboard set higher up thats all. and that anyone willing to sit there and find that setting can turn a 955 into a 980 for free. thus saving you noticeable amounts of money.
couldnt i do the dame thing with the 980 then? and turn that setting up higher ? sorry im a noob lolthe setting the 980 is at is the highest it can go basically it can go only two higher which the 955 again can do anyway.
one + to the 980 though if it even counts for anything is that the 980 was sometimes cut from a phenom II x6 that the manufacturing testing phase deemed unworthy of being a 6 core but saw 4 or 5 working cores meaning it could hypothetically be turn back into a 6 core however the odds of this are fairly low of occuring and you wouldnt really improve in games only in things like mutimedia (movie making/watching)

speaking personnaly i wouldnt take the risk and jsut be happy with the x5 955 with the multiplier up to the level of a 980 or above.
iv read some reviews about the 980 and one review said they were able to overclock it to 4.3 , i dont think the 955 could do that, i may get the 955 anyways since its not like games are very demanding for cpus[QUOTE="ablafasaolin"][QUOTE="ionusX"]
downgrade the 980 to like the 955 and pocket the difference. you want a 980 okay here you go in the motherboards bios (to get to it every board's is different normally f2 @ startup though)
set your cpu's multiplier up up once from defualt is the 955, again is the 965 again is the 970 again is the 980
your temps will change a few hairs but beyond that you made harmless adjustments and saved yourself easily $30
the rest isnt too bad id avoid the dark fleet case lineup jsut an opinion.
for the same money you can get an antec 900 of haf 922
so are you sayin i need a different motherboard? sorry i didnt understand that part, o ya i meant to ask, do you think i need a full tower? or would a mid tower do just fineno im saying that a phenom II x4 980 is a phenom II x4 955 with a certain setting that is controlled by the motherboard set higher up thats all. and that anyone willing to sit there and find that setting can turn a 955 into a 980 for free. thus saving you noticeable amounts of money.
