Looks nice, but I doubt it will sell well, pro evo addicts won't be trading the controls they have been mastering for years for a new control layout, never going to happen. I tried to play fifa 08 with some friends but even if the game was better they just didn't like it because the controls werent the same.

sakuragi007

It probably won't sell too well as people know that a new version is going to be just round the corner when the next season starts.

We need more games like this (and Beats on PSP). I wish Activision would have custom soundtracks in Guitar Hero.. although they would probably lose out on their precious DLC revenue and future sales..

-Spock-

More games with custom soundtracks = yes

Guitar hero/rock band with custom soundtracks = no

Honestly the placing of the notes in guitar hero is what makes the game, I honestly wouldn't think that this is an easy thing to replicate with software or a community driven effort.

The only people who really developed technology this gen were Sony with the Cell and Blu-ray, Microsoft and Nintendo hardware is basically repurposed PC hardware. If Nintendo wanted more advanced hardware they would just go and buy it. So in the next generation of consoles they could be the most powerful if they wanted to be, howevewr they have proved this gen that power does not equal success.

[QUOTE="Jazunn"]After doing the first star and going for the second, I turned off the Wii due to pure boredom.Jazunn

must be a childhood disease your boredom

I'm sure they have a drug for it now-a-days. Try asking your doctor.

Of course, if I don't like repetitive and pedantic platforming I miust be crazy? /sigh

SMG is the same as Mario 64 which I found boring 10 years ago.

Pedantic platforming? Care to explain what you mean? And how do you know it is repetative, pedantic and just like Mario64 after playing it for 3 or 4 minutes? Judging and dismissing a world class game after 5 minutes playtime IS crazy, finding SMG boring after a couple of hours isn't. See the difference?

It is repetitive by its very nature. Repitition is not in itself a bad thing, all games rely on you doing the same things over and over again, in fact it is generally considered bad game design to introduce too many new game mechanics too quickly. I think SMG avoids becoming boring by constantly introducing you to new areas, subtle new mechanics, new uses for old mechanics, and by gradually ramping up the difficulty. The difficulty curve is pretty shallow at first though, which can make the early levels a little boring as they lack challenge for a lot of gamers, but once you progress to a point where your skill level and the difficulty match up the game is excellent.

Obviously people do not understand what is getting done with these discs than. There is absolutely no new programming that is required. All that is happening is that the music is being re-encoded properly and than the disc is being "re-pressed" (re-burnt) with the same source code and the proper audio files. No programming changes, therefore no possiblility of anything getting messed up.

I am pretty sure that they will have to add in the surround sound menu that they described in the manual and they haven't expressly stated that they are not going to have to tweak other things in the programming.

To be honest I am a little less than trusting considering that:

1)The Guitar Hero 3 box has Dolby Pro logic on it and the game is outputting in mono = my trust is shot

2)It took them a month to admit this, even though they must have known even before they shipped to stores

3)They took out the sound menu that is mentioned in the manual, suggesting to my distrusting mind that they had a technical issue with the sound -before- they pressed the discs and didn't have time to fix it (but had time to alter the menu's). This would indicate that the problem wasn't purely failure to press the correct audiofiles and thus may neccesitate changes to the programming.

Take out RROD and 360 failure rate is roughly 6.4% (40% of 16%). PS3 and Wii stand at roughly 3%. So the failure rate of 360's is still twice as high as the Ps3 or Wii for none RROD issues.

You have to send in your original copy and then wait 3-4 weeks for a replacement. Which is why I definitely want to know that this version is 100% fixed and compatible with old saves before I send it out.

So I got my mailer for the Guitar Hero 3 replacement disc today in the post. Has anyone recieved there replacement disc yet? I am hoping someone can give some details about how long the process took and can confirm that old save data works with the remastered version. The mailer states that you shoudl wait 3-4 weeks for your replacement but I was hoping that this is the upper maximum.
