@lonewolf315 They answered that on launch day, server transfers will be available starting mid-september.
They WILL cost $$$, you will only be able to transfer to worlds that require more population (i.e. the less populated 1/2 of the servers or something simmilar), you can't transfer from japan servers to NA/EU or vice-versa, you can't transfer from a legacy server to a non-legacy one currently.
@bledsoe45sbc @GOGOHeadray There are a few games priced at $90-100 (after currency conversion) in the EU psn store and xbox marketplace so the idea of lower prices for download games doesn't work. especially when you consider in most cases disk-based versions of the same games cost LESS than the downloadable versions.
@jinzo9988 I think they're taking their time releasing FF14: ARR in order to try and let people forget the bad publicity the original got.
Considering they re-built the entire game including the engine from scratch they should probably just release it as "Final Fantasy 15".
tbh Personally I liked FF14 as it was, though I didn't actually get to end-game content which is where I think it failed more than anything.
The bad publicity it got really didn't help either.
Also the fact that the "maximum" settings were designed to NOT run on any existing computer (at the time of release) really put people off as those with high-end computers thought the game was broke when they tried "maximum" and often dropped below 10 fps.
As long as the new version gets good publicity a large number of FF11's players will likely migrate to it, in addition most of the "legacy" players will almost certainly play.
So overall the past reputation shouldn't matter as long as the word-of-mouth about the game is good.
Last time I played FF11 the total size of the game was approx 6GB in total.
When I played FF14's beta (the original beta not the ARR one) the game was 21GB WAY too big to work on a single disk on the xbox 360, always chance of a downloadable version I guess?
But yeah I heard the rumors of Microsoft wanting xbox360-exclusive servers, considering the way FF11 worked (all servers were cross-console cross-region servers) and considering SE probably want to go the same way with FF14 there's no way Microsoft will get exclusive servers.
@brxricano @adam270391 hmm, I think they just mean that part of the administration is intent on repaying, while another part is researching other options?
That's how it came across to me in the main body of this article anyway...
Yeah the heading is contradictory but...aren't they usually?
