[QUOTE="pimperjones"] [QUOTE="ironwarrior2"]Oh really? If thats what you want to believe. Fact: the PS3 does not upscale progressive scan images, only 480i. A native 480p does look better than an upscaled 480i image. Have you even tried it? Do you even have a descent sized 1080p tv? Oh, 32 inch, I guess you dont.:lol:ironwarrior2
Yo ain't nobody talking about 480i here Einstein. It's 1080i and yes they do make 1080p sets at 32" I happen to own one ever heard of "Sharp LC32D62U 32".
It ain't the upscaling that makes it look better it's the AA and the overscan compensation via software scaling it takes away the black borders that was put in for all PS2 games as part of the image so that games would fit on SD tvs without cropping.
The upcaling does 2 things that makes it better one, it stretrches for Sd overscan hence allowing the image to fill the whole screen, 2 It applies software AA to smooth out the jaggies.
If you think 480p looks better than 1080p then your blind simpl as that.
Let me try to explain it so you can understand, if that's even possible. GOWII already has a widescreen mode, hence no black borders or streching. Are you still with me? Good, I'll continue. GowII also already has a progressive scan mode, which is 480p. The PS3 does not upscale 480p, only 480i. Native (real) 480p looks better than upscaled (fake) 1080p unless you like your screen smeared in vasoline. Sure, it may still be a little more jagged, but the overall image quality is much more clear and chrisp.
Excuse me sir, but GOW II, even in widescreen mode, has black bars on the sides running on an HDTV. It's the truth.
