1080p will be the dominant force eventually.

If you have a TV over 50" it is noticable.

Right now? Not doable with most games due to taxing the system having to draw 2x the pixels.

720p better than 1080p with no qualifiers? No way. 1080p PWNZ 720p in a big way for movies on a big screen right now. Maybe not games YET, but movies. Come on over, I'll show you. ;)

720p = 1280 x 720 or 1366 x 768
1080i and 1080p = 1920 x 1080

Obviously the more pixels there are, the more detail there is. If you have a chance, head to your local electronics store and check out how much better the picture looks on a good HD display. You really have to see it with your own eyes.

You can't compare the two from pictures. SD TV's cannot be photographed, the pixels are too far apart and the camera removes the light that hides them from your eyes, it looks awful in every picture. HD has alot of pixels close together so the entire image looks cleaner.
