Impressive graphics
by adders11 on Comments
Here's a list of games over the years where the graphics have impressed me.
- Doom 3: I remember seeing early screesnhots of the game and being absolutely amazed by it. When it was released and I played it I was stunned. When I got the game a few years back I used to play it on medium settings but even then I still thought it looked great. Of course, it's a very dark game but even now, the lighting effects still impress me.
- Far Cry: Another game I used to have to play on medium settings at the time. It was the water detail, lush jungles and draw distances that amazed me. I still love the games graphics because its so easy on the eyes thanks to the colourful landscape.
- Half-Life 2 and Source engine: I owned Doom 3 and Far Cry already but HL 2 took it to the extreme. I managed to play this on high with good frame rates even with my old GeForce FX5500 card. The lighting was better in Doom 3 and the vegetation better in Far Cry, but in terms of realism HL2 stole the show. The characters, textures and not to mention physics were just amazing. It had the best all-round engine and was the best game out of the 3. Still an excellent engine that Valve still uses today.
- The Chronicles Of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay: I didnt get this until, like, 2 years after release. But the graphics were so damn good and compared to games of the year I bought it. Everything looks so gritty in a great way. The characters look amazing.
- F.E.A.R.: This is a great looking game too. The textures are good, the physics, the lighting...and the blood! Another game that impressed me visually.
- Gears Of War: When I first played this on a mate's 360 I was amazed at how good a 360 game could look. It compared with any PC game at the time. The levels and characater models are really detailed thanks to the UT3 engine.
- Resident Evil (Gamecube): This remake of the original scares the hell out of me. The graphics are really, really nice for a GC game. The mansion looks amazing really.
- Battlefield 2: The graphics in BF2 are such a huge step up from BF Vietnam released 1 year earlier. The engine looks a little dated now (and BF 2142 didnt look half as good) but damn it's a nice environment to be fighting in!
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Everyone thought this game looked a little dated at release but I thought it looked brilliant. The environments look so damn relaistic and the lighting effects are still the best i've ever seen in a game so far.
- Crysis: Well this was an obvious post. The best looking game ever so far. ANd the physics are just so much fun!
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky

STALKER Clear Sky is finally out now and I saw it in a store the other day. There were 2 versions: the normal edition and for an extra £5 the special edition (so ill probably pick up the special one). I've read a lot of player reviews saying that the game is very buggy. Im thinking of buying the game soon. Maybe I should wait for some better patches to be released.
The game still hasn't been reviewed by Gamespot despite being around for a few days now! I cant wait for the review! Anyway, it'll hopefully be a great game since Shadow Of Chernobyl was cool.

Upcoming games I want
by adders11 on Comments
White Gold: This is a game from the people who made Boiling Point. It's basically an updated version of Boiling Point with a bigger gaming environment and better combat and less bugs etc. And better graphics of course.
Brothers In Arms Hell's Highway: This looks amazing! Its BIA being bought onto the Unreal Engine 3 and you get the chance to play in first or third person this time I think.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky: This either out now or out in like, a few days. I hope it's better than the first one.
GTA IV PC: Seems like ages since GTA IV came out but apparently the PC version is out in November.
Wolfenstein: The Wolfenstein series is one of my fave shooters from id Software. theres no confirmed date for the this one but its gonna be amazing!
Bully Scholarship Edition for PC: I own the PS2 game but the PC version looks really interesting. I'll buy it if its a big improvement on the PS2 version.
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: been a fan of C&C for years now and the new one looks great.
Got my final exam results at last

Today I got my GCSE exam results. Overall I did 9 subjects and passed 7 of them. I passed all the main important subjects (Maths, English, Science). I failed French and Art but I don't really care. The main thing is that they're good enough for me to get into 6th Form college in September! Hopefully my parents will buy me a new guitar amp :D
New Gamespot Design

I just got back from being away in Wales for a few days and saw that Gamespot looks totally different. Im not too keen I have to say. The old design was so much easier (then again I was used to using that for a couple of years).
In other news im really into downloading and playing Half-Life 2 single player maps for a bit more HL2 action!
Far Cry

As you may know I was playing FEAR. Now im moving on to play through Far Cry again since that's another game I havent played fora long time. Far Cry is an awesome game but I was never keen on the trijen enemies. It's also a really challenging game and it's probably gonna take me a while to complete again. For any PC gamers that dont own Far Cry, buy it!
P.S. Far Cry 2 looks great!
