Doesn't it walk you through when you start a new random map? I thought it did. Either way you are probably better off to read the manual and then play your way through. Also there are lots of online game guides you could read.

well I guess by very mature you don't mean Sam & Max but thats a very good one. The longest journey and its sequel dreamfall are also excelent and they are more mature and probably 10-20 hours a piece. I don't remeber exactly.

Also a very good deal is the "adventure collection: volume one" that is out now. It has 5 adventrue games that are pretty good, mature, and short. I got mine at best buy but you could probalby search the web too. It includes dead reefs, keepsake, return to mysterious island, nibiru, and tunguska secret files.

Basically, the question is, as many people don't have computers powerful enough to run games like COD4, will graphics stop being enhanced in order to wait for the customers to catch up by upgrading their PCs? The main reason that I believe that they will was the poor sales of Crysis, or so I've heard. Crytek blamed the poor sales of Crysis on pirated software, but is that really the reason? Or were people less willing to buy a game that they weren't sure their PC would run, and instead just downloaded it because they didn't want to waste their money? (Also, why don't they make it so that one person can have one CD-Key, like companies such as Novalogic)? Even the all mighty PS3 has a limit of what it can handle, and it would take a couple more years to fire off another Playstation or Xbox, if not more.

I predict that this can go three ways:

A- Companies create smaller, linear, "Arena" style games with increasingly smaller playing areas in order to up graphics.

B - Companies stop developing for the PC and go to PS3 and Xbox (but, as before, these both have their limits too, so the point is moot, as graphics would still eventually be halted).

C - Companies stop increasing graphics, and work on optimizing their engines instead.

Just a final point - I believe that the PC video game industry will bite the dust if it goes for the graphically perfect game too quick, as 5% of computer users is not a suitable enough audience. For the next three to five years, in my opinion, graphics will take small leaps and bounds, but nothing spectacular. We've reached the end of this "graphics revolution," and now have to wait for those who have less powerful machines to catch up.

Beagle050

the thing is that improvements aren't just limited to graphics. The next big horizon will be physics and thats a whole nother level of computing power needed. Games will persure this end even if they outpace the market a little because there is ego associated with creating the biggest and best.

Also the idea that people don't know if they can handle crysis or not is rediculous. A: You can download the demo to see and B: crysis was actually quite scalable and playable at some setting on a wide variety of computers.

Sure. CRT (cathode ray tube) are the older style monitors. They can be flat screen but they are always very deep. LCD are the newer thin panel montiors. Basically is your monitor two inches deep or 14 inches deep?

You left out a very important part, the memory. It sounds like a memory problem too. Also what is your operating system? Is it a 32 bit or 64 bit os? Your graphic card and processor are fine. When you put the amount of memory it would be great to if you knew the speed and type (ddr, ddr2, ddr3?)

The computer shouldn't be an issue but to say that the monitor is very hot is not good. Is it a CRT monitor or an LCD? LCDs should never get "very hot" but a CRT might.

you might try playing soldier too. Heavy is somewhat difficult for certain maps. Also keep in mind that a lot of people play team fortress all the time. I have nearly a hundred hours in and that seems to be pretty average. Point being you will suck at first. Try finding a server for newbies if possible. And if you are going to play heavy, a medic helping you is a must.

I believe this is a taboo topic here.

If you own the game is it? I know lots of people who used to buy playstation games and play them on the pc. can't do that with 64 though. Anyways I used to play some of my old nes games that way since the cartridges never work anymore.
