[QUOTE="alexfla"]

I keep trying to force myself to buy a PS3 but I can't come up with a good enough reason to spend $300. I am still waiting for that one game that makes me run out to buy one. I thought it would be GT5 but when I heard about the generic cars and the big flop I just completely lost interest.

Killzone 3 really doesn't matter to me at all. On top of that it flopped so i'm not buying a new console just for that. The biggest reason so far is MGS4 but I wish there was something else. I guess Uncharted 2 is a decent reason as well. But I am mostly an RPG player. I don't really care too much about FPS or Action games. The main thing that interests me about the PS3 is blu-ray cause I have a 58" 1080p Panasonic Plasma in my bedroom where I do most of my gaming.

I am also interested in PSN games. Mostly old PS1 RPGs that may be released. Most notably FF7 is tempting me. Anything else on PSN that you would recommend? I already have a PS2 connected via component cables and it is a pain in the butt to play that on my HDTV. The PS2 was just not designed for HD screens. But it is a great RPG system so I keep it plugged in.

Where is that big game that makes me want to just buy a PS3? FFv13 maybe? If it is great and remains PS3 exclusive then I would definitely buy a PS3 immediately. Someon help me out here, what compelling reason is there for an old school gamer with a 360 to purchase a PS3?

BigBoss255

PS3 has tons of great exclusives and will continue to do so. A PS3 purchase is more than justified even if you own the crap box. Look at at all the current and future exclusives and decide.

What are the ton of exclusives? Any good enough to inspire me to buy a PS3?

KZ3, GOW3, MLB the Show, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, GT5, MGS4, Demon Souls and Valkyria Chronicles. Games I own and love.

And thats not even all PS3 has to offer. There is infamous, resistance, heavenly sword. And like 5 other great exclusives. PS3 is a great systems.

KZ3 - Maybe if I already had a PS3 and it was priced under $20 I would pick it up. But i'm not buying a PS3 just to play this game.

GOW3 - It seems alright but it's just not really my type of game.

MLB the Show - Sorry but no.

Heavy Rain - Decent game but not a system mover.

Uncharted 2 - Yea I would pick it up but eventually.

GT5 - No way i'm buying a broken game like this. Maybe GT6 or if they release a new edition of GT5 with all premium cars.

MGS4 - Yes I want this game but it alone doesn't compell me. Maybe if the PS3 was priced at $200 then yes.

Demon Souls - coming out for the 360 this year.

Valkyria Chronicles - This is a good one. I am interested in this game. This will be right along with MGS4 and Uncharted 2.

Infamous - Is this anything like the first Crackdown? I really enjoyed Crackdown.

Resistance - Nah, this is a generic fps. Not interested at all.

Heavenly Sword - LOL are you serious?

does it really matter who makes the games? or that the games are made.... think about it

mejiseike

It matters because great exclusive 3rd party support was something the PS2 had and the PS3 lost. What we're left with is Sony's first party which is not the great AAA churning machine that cows claim it to be.

Microsoft has easily dominated Sony for 5 years with pretty much 2 games, Halo and Gears of War. If Sony's first party was really that strong, that wouldn't have occured. Even their precious Gran Turismo always gets destroyed by Forza. Sony's first party is nothing to write home about.

so the ps2 had great exclusives, what im trying to say is who cares who makes them....

Do you really not know? Would you like me to take time out of my day to explain this to you?

  • God of War
  • ICO . SotC
  • Socom
  • Gran Turismo
  • Jak and Daxter
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • Sly Cooper
  • Hot Shots Golf
  • Twisted Metal
  • Dark Cloud
  • Wild Arms
  • Casual - (Singstar,Buzz,EyeToy games)
  • Other - (MLB , ATV Offroad Fury , Syphon Filter , The Getaway , Killzone , Ape Escape , etc)

The ps2 would have been great without third party exclusives and well worth purchasing. The PS3 is the same in that respect.

That's not true. If the Final Fantasy series, Gran Theft Auto series and Metal Gear series were GameCube exclusives, it would've wiped it's butt with the PS2 in sales and quality of software.

[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]Umm, they were both great consoles.

garland51

The gamecube was a decent console, although looking back at the library it was a bit lacking. But, *equally great

I don't think the gamecube was anywhere near the PS2, really ...

Granted, both the N64 & Gamecube had good 1st party titles, but 1st &/or 2nd party alone weren't enough to put them over the top of the PS1 & the PS2. They needed stronger 3rd party support, which is what PS1 & PS2 had, & which is why they each had over 100 million (?) consoles sold. Without excellent 3rd party support coming towards your console, the popularity & the sales of your console starts dwindling. A system can't succeed off of just 1st &/or 2nd party games alone.

Ever heard of the Wii?

WRONG. the ps2 had an awesome equilibrium of both exclusive 1st/3rd party and a nuge list of multiplats!

Metal Gear Rising isn't part of the core series so I wouldn't really use that as a point. Its also coming the PC and the last two MGS games have been Sony exclusives and I doubt that will change. Secondly what superior third party exclusives is the 360 getting that the PS3 isn't? TheColbert

Timed exclusive downloadable content and a much better online community for starters. Geohot screwed PS3 owners big time. Actually Sony screwed them by removing linux. Whatever the reason, the 360 is superior for online multiplayer as a result.

The PS2 was a great system, no one can deny that. It was bustling with great games in every genre. Not just one but several great games. But what a lot of you are forgetting is that back then, the PS2 was landing EXCLUSIVE THIRD PARTY games.

That's all gone now. The only one it got and BARELY was MGS4. Everything else it lost to Microsoft. Even the next Megal Gear will be first day on 360. So where does that leave the PS3.

Well, it's defnitely not the powerhouse the PS2 was. Not even close. It's very weak by comparison. Sony first part is big and they do make some very good games but the magic by and large is happening with the third party developers. Sony is no Nintendo. Nintendo is actually a great, actually the best software company that happens to make hardware. Sony on the otherhand makes excellent hardware but they can't really carry a system by software alone.

Sort of reminds me of the Blu-ray vs HD DVD war. It was neck and neck until Warner went exclusive to Blu-ray then it was over one month after that. Similar situation exists right now, if EA or Activision went exclusive to Sony, that would signal the end of the 360. But that's not going to happen.

Sony picture studio support never mattered in the Blu-ray vs HD DVD war and Sony first party games division really doesn't matter in the console wars.

I guess i'm making this post due to too many guys overhyping Sony exclusive games. The best one by far is still a third party game, MGS4. Uncharted 2 is good but it won't carry a console. Where are all the JRPGs? That's right, the 360 actually has them all and even more.

Finally, don't hype fps because the 360 always curb stomps PS3 when it comes to that genre. If cows want to hype something, stick to Uncharted and Metal Gear. Also the PS3 is an excellent Blu-ray player. Worthy of praise for that. But stop trying to make it seem like it's the PS2 vs Xbox all over again. Not even close. The PS3 is inferior this gen. Sorry but it's true.
