Amazon has a great deal on the 160 GB version for only $300 and they give you a $75 store credit. This is like buying a PS3 for $225 with no tax and free shipping for me because I shop at Amazon quite often and am a prime member.

Also, I just bought during black friday a 58" 1080p Panasonic Plasma for my bedroom and I currently don't have a blu-ray player there. So it would be very convenient to use the PS3 as a blu-ray player. But I can buy a cheap blu-ray player so I don't know.

The reason i'm hesitating so much is that I already own an Xbox 360 and the PS3 pretty much has the same games. Yes there are some exclusives but I don't know.

Games I would want are MGS4, Uncharted 2, GOW3 and I was hyped about GT5 but I refuse to play a racing game with 800 crap cars. I know that will piss me off.

What else is there? Please convince me to pony up and buy a PS3 cause I do think it's a good deal at this price.

One more thing, I also saw a Wii bundle with sports resort and Wii motion plus for $177 so that's an option too.

In order for next gen to blow the doors off of Uncharted 3, it has to be in the same ballpark as the Arkham City trailer. It just has to.

You can beat Uncharted 3 by alot without it looking like that Batman trailer.....

Next gen has to blow us way, make us just not able to resist upgrading. It can't just beat UC3 by a lot, it has to make UC3 look like a rag doll piece of crap that hurts to play cause the graphics are so bad.

If next gen is going to be similar graphics to UC3 only with better textures and higher resolution, then no thanks i'll stick with current gen.

They better deliver Arkham City level graphics then i'll camp out in front of best buy for 2 days waiting to buy one at launch.

No, then what do you think they will be like, somewhat similar to PS3 and 360?

Look at games like Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, Gears 3 and then we must realize that next gen games have to make those games look like trash. Next gen has to be a huge leap that makes us want to trade our consoles to experience the next gen graphics.

If next gen is comparable to this gen then why upgrade at all?

[QUOTE="FIipMode"]How are the PS3 numbers looking that much worse again?

FIipMode

For one thing 360 SOLD 800,000 more than PS3 in November in the US alone. The PS3 SHIPPED 700,000 more consoles WORLDWIDE last quarter. You really can't figure it out?

Both of their reports say sold, but I like many people know they count shipped as sold. So can you tell me where you found out that Microsoft uses numbers in consumers hands, tbolt never showed that, can you?

Wow, do you really believe NPD tracks shipped consoles? Sorry but I can't waste time arguing with someone who doesn't even understand what NPD is.

I believe they will. Watch the trailer and realize why the move to next gen consoles is something positive that we should be looking forward to.

[QUOTE="tbolt76"][QUOTE="FIipMode"]When worldwide numbers are aggregated, the PS3 does outsell the 360, like last quarter for example. 2.8 mil, to 3.5 million, unless when you say more 360s are sold you just mean overall for the entire lifetime of both consoles.

FIipMode

I would be referring to total life sales, yet outselling for a quarter doesn't neccessarily mean that PS3 is always outselling the 360. When the PS3 gets outsold by 800,000 in a month in one territory, it is very hard to close that gap. Based on your post, for the entire quarter, the PS3 outsold the 360 by 700,000. Doing the math, that would put the PS3 100,000 behind and wit hreported strong sales in the UK and other European territories, the PS3 numbers look that much worse.

How are the PS3 numbers looking that much worse again?

Everything the Xbox 360 had done was already been done on one system. Everything the Xbox 360 will do was been or will be done on one system. The PC =) lol and I am not trolling but its truth.ShadowDeathX

True but the PC does it for the small price of only $3,000 plus yearly upgrades and daily crashes.

Do you know that your same argument also works against the Xbox 360?

With the 360's NPD estimates, 356,700, 483,989, 443,500, that adds up to 1,284,189 consoles sold. And they sold about 63,301 360s in that same time period in Japan per Media Create.

So if you're relying exclusively on NPD and Media Create estimates, that means the 360 sold about 1.5 million 360s in Europe. That means it sold better in Europe than in America. Does that match up with reality?

Then why is it as of December 2009, the 360 sold 18.6 million in the United States [link] and only 10 million in EMEA [link]?

The simple answer is that shipment numbers should not be directly compared/used in conjunction with Media Create and NPD estimates.

SakusEnvoy

The amount of 360's sold in Europe realistically are probably in the 400k per month range. So if they sold roughly 1.2 million in Europe, 1.3 million in US and 60k in Japan, it's very easy to believe that they have shipped 2.8 million units worldwide.

However, we know the PS3 sold 738k in the US and 300k in Japan and it is absurd to believe they sold 800k per month in Europe. Even when you take shipped numbers into account.

Maybe Sony is stuffing the retail pipeline worldwide to give the impression of big sales. If that's how they want to conduct business then that's fine.

But let it be known as a fact, the PS3 was outsold BIG TIME by the 360 and the DS blew the doors off of it in sales. These are indisputable facts.

Ok, some posters in here are pushing around "facts" about the PS3 selling 3.5 million hardware units worldwide for the months of July, August and September. Well, let's break down the numbers.

North America as per NPD

Septermber 2010

Playstation 3 - 312,000

August 2010

Playstation 3 - 212,000

July 2010

Playstation 3 - 214,500

Japan Sales numbers as per Media Create

http://www.next-gen.biz/news/japan-ps3-sales-surpass-wii%E2%80%99s-in-2010

This is Media Create tracking PS3 sales from January 4, 2010 - September 12, 2010 - Total =1,017,094

Those are sales for 9 months, so you have to subtract quite a bit from that to arrive at the July, August and September numbers.

I noticed the PS3 sales approx 20,000 to 25,000 per week in Japan. So let's say they sold in those 3 months 300,000 units.

July, August and September = approx 300,000

Europe Sales figures

I can't find numbers for the PS3 here.

Totals

Let's add up the different regions

US totals = 738,500

Japan totals = 300,000

US and Japan totals = 1,038,500

Europe ?

If you believe the numbers then the PS3 sold 2,461,500 in 3 months in Europe.

That would equal 820,500 hardware units sold per month in Europe.

The PS3 has been out in Europe for over 55 months. If they sold 820,500 for each of those months that would equal an over 45 million installed base in Europe.

We all know that the PS3 has not sold that many consoles even worldwide.

Can someone please explain to me how the PS3 managed to sell 3.5 million consoles worldwide? If you can do a better break down of the different regions then please be my guest.
