No No, its not the UK's newest "Let's Make a Deal" ripoff, involving a variety of pork products, its the latest eBay item I just had to share. Its only four dollars but its probably the most hideous fountain pen I've ever seen =P You be the judge.

Alli's Oscar PreShow
by Allicrombie on Comments
Yay its almost Oscar time! Nevermind that last year was the lowest rated Oscar show ever, or that this year's best picture nominations have been a pretty depressing bunch. I'm not saying that they're bad movies, just that a lot of them are depressing. I dont know what happened to the funny romantic comedies. I've seen most of the movies up for awards, and I'm hoping Mickey Rourke wins Best Actor, cause I really liked The Wrestler, though if I had to make a guess, I'm betting Sean Penn will win for Milk, he was great. Oh right, Hugh Jackman is hosting this time around (I think he's from Gamespot AU). I'd like to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman win Best Supporting, but I'm sure Heath Ledger will take it. His Joker was probably the best part of that movie. Best Actress should go to Meryl Streep, though I havent seen The Reader ( I heard it was depressing ). Best Supporting Actress is a tough one, because I liked Marissa Tomei in The Wrestler, but Amy Adams is so cute! =P I'm definitely hoping Wall-E wins Best Animated, I loved that movie. I really liked Benjamin Button, I hope it wins a couple technical awards (you know, cinematography, etc), I cant see it winning anything big though, because of all the strong movies in the big awards, like Best Picture.
Are you guys planning on watching the Oscars?

City of Angels: Cold, But Not Cold Enough?
by Allicrombie on Comments
Ive noticed that people living around L.A. get kind of a raw deal when they talk about how cold they are. I'm almost always cold, because like most people here, I usually wear a tank top and shorts in winter. No biggie, right? Since it usually doesnt go below 60 even at night, and I crank the heater up to "tropical rainforest", most mornings and nights. Sure, it raises the gas bill through the roof, but the toucans and tree frogs seem to like it. We've had rain the past few days which is nice, but a few weeks ago, we were having record high temps for Jan, like 95s in the valleys and such. Its nice in the daytime, but when the sun goes down, it starts getting chilly. I mentioned to a few people that I was cold lately and they looked at me like I was insane. (well, you know, they usually look at me like that, but this time it was the insane look with the eye roll).
Like when my roommate's Mom called recently. I told her I was cold, right? She has a small farm in Illinois somewhere and mentioned how it was 10 below there and how one of her cows was pretty much a living ice sculpture. Of course, I countered with the fact that it was 65 here, without the heater on, which didnt work quite so well. Dont I have a right to freeze too??
Or like when I was talking to a friend from Boston. I mentioned it was cold here, which it was, like freezing (72), and he told me how it was sooo cold there, he had to shovel snow in his yard, his neighbors yard and his Mom's yard. He also had to take his polar bear for a walk and now it had indigestion because, well, wouldnt you know it, it ate another little girl, dont worry though, I hear its gonna be fine. Thats a nice story and all, but I'm still cold. =P
Now, I know what you're thinking, that I should just wear more clothes, right? Well I dont like wearing layers and layers of clothes in my own house. I thought I was paying rent so I have somewhere to stay without clothes on? I dont mean like nekkid though, cause then my roomie might get nekkid and I'd accidentally see it and I'd have to scoop out my own eyes with a spoon.
Oh well, I guess it could be worse. It could be 101 like it was in Melbourne like a week ago. I probably wouldnt be cold then. At least not til it dropped to 90 or so. Hope you guys have a great week! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to turn off the heater, its freakishly hot in here =P
Re-Organized
by Allicrombie on Comments
Well I finally updated my game collection with the games Ive actually seen lately. On the plus side, its nice to have an accurate list of games. On the other hand, I did lose like three or four emblems, but after weeks of intensive therapy, I think I'm ready to accept the fact that emblems arent that important. *bites nails*
I'm also hoping to write more reviews this year, no no, its not a resolution, cause those never get done, you know. Hopefully I'll have some posted soon that will pretty much scare anyone away from any further review reading. Sweet!
I really enjoyed the game yesterday, despite the fact that Arizona didnt win. I think they played a great game. I went to my aunt's and watched it on her huge 52' sony hdtv. Its the brightest tv Ive ever seen. You can see it clearly from across the street if her blinds are open, its so bright.
In gaming news, I managed to get all the achievements for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, after suffering through playing as Richter, he jumps like an old man. Oh, he has a super jump and air dash and all, but performing them is like playing Street Fighter 2, which is kinda lame. Overall, its a great game though, and I definitely recommend it, especially if you loved the original on PSOne.
Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Two hunters found a pilot to fly them to Canada to hunt moose. They managed to kill six. As they were loading the plane for the return trip, the pilot said they could only take four moose. Outraged, the hunters objected,
"Last year we killed six, the pilot let us take them all and he had the same plane as yours!"
Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and they loaded all six. Even at full power, though, the small plane couldnt handle the load and went down. Somehow, surrounded by moose bodies, the two hunters survived the crash. After climbing out of the wreckage, and looking around, one hunter asked,
"Soo any idea where we are?"
"I think we're pretty close to where we crashed last year."

A couple in their nineties are both having trouble remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor says they may want to start writing things down to help them remember. Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up to go in the kitchen.
"Want anything while I'm in there?" he asks his wife.
"Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?" , she says.
"Sure."
"Dont you think you should write it down, so you can remember it?" she asks.
"I can remember that."
"Well, I want strawberries on top too. Maybe you should write it down, so you wont forget.", she says.
"I can remember that, you want a bowl of ice cream, with strawberries on top."
"I also want whipped cream, I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down.", she says.
Irritated, he says, "I dont need to write it down, I can remember it!", Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sakes!"
The man wanders into the kitchen. After about twenty minutes, he returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. After staring at the plate for a moment, she finally asks,
"Where's my toast?"

XBox Live: Week One
by Allicrombie on Comments
Hello lovely Gamespotters!
Ive been on XBox Live for about a week now, and theres so many nifty games on there! I bought a bunch of points and spent them within a day, almost, and theres still games on there I want to play, thats pretty impressive (well more impressive than PSN anyway).
I picked up the following games:
,
,
,
,
Street Fighter is way too hard, even on easy, I cant imagine anyone beating it on expert. Castle Crashers and Uno are both lots of fun. Castlevania is just as fun as I remember, from playing on the psone, way back when, though I'm not too far into it yet. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader is okay, some of the questions seem really hard for grade school questions. When I was in 5th grade, all I remember is nap time, juice boxes and handball (wait, that was last week).
Ive also been playing a surprising amount of:
Ive had the game for six months or so and finally started playing it, its a lot of fun, and the minions are cute, sort of. Its like an evil version of Pikmin, more or less.
As if I didnt have enough to play, I also picked up:
and
,
two games Ive been wanting to run through on xbox for awhile now.
I did manage to finish one game though,
and I enjoyed it a lot, nothing like little burlap people to make you realize your place in the universe, right?? (There's my cue to shut up hehe).
Hope you guys are happy and healthy and most importantly, playing some really fun games!

You Cant Go Home Again...Or Can You?
by Allicrombie on Comments
Soo earlier I was in a PS3 mood and was about to pop in Little Big Planet, when I thought I might check out this whole Playstation Home thing and see what all the fuss was about.
After a bunch of downloads ..(system update, Home software, various places to go in Home downloads), I was ready to explore. I picked some preset avatar and looked around.
You (that is, the virtual you), start off in a sparsely decorated apartment overlooking a nice harbor, (which sadly, puts my real home to shame lol). From there, you can access any of the main places to hang out, including the sunlit outdoorsy central plaza, the neon painted bowling alley, the theater, or the mall.
The Central Plaza is kind of neat, its the main hub, of sorts. From here you can check out the other places, in a virtual 3D setting. There are lots of virtual people running around, dancing, or emoting odd gestures, making virtual people watching, almost as fun as actual people watching. It would be nice if it was on a day/night cycle though, as it was a little too sun drenched for me. But it was pretty funny looking at the brightly lit plaza, and then looking out the window at how dark it was here all day (it looked like rain).
The bowling alley was kind of neat. It had only five lanes, which were packed with people bowling, waiting to bowl, and standing there, hoping someone would ask them to bowl. There's also a number of arcade games you can play, like Echochrome, and pool tables. (are real bowling alleys this crowded??). I'll bet the place is dead at 4am though =P
I then checked out the theater, which is basically the inside of a movie theater, which is supposed to feature large trailers of games and movies, but I didnt see anything come on screen while I was sitting there.
The mall was next, and its a large, multistory mall, filled with shops where you can supposedly buy items for your virtual self with real cash (funny how that works). None of the stores were working though when I was looking through them and they didnt have much available anyway. I'm guessing this is gonna get fixed though, cause they need way more virtual shoes for my virtual self.
Soo since I'd seen most of it, I went back and messed with the avatar a little bit, so it looks a bit more like me now. I then went back and was hanging out at the virtual mall and had a nice chat with some guy from NY and some guy from TX, well a nice virtual chat anyway. I did get some chat lag though. Oh, the mall also has a large screen upstairs for viewing game trailers like Prince of Persia and such, its really clear, cause you can see it from the other side of the mall, as if you were standing in front of it.
Apparently, anyone with a headset near you can shout into it and you'll hear them, cause I heard dudes yelling various odd things while I was walking around. One guy even yelled, "hey shorty", in my direction, which was pretty funny, cause Ive been called that before.
I'll probably check it out again, if only for more virtual people watching =P
Has anyone else tried out Playstation Home yet?
