In the modern world we live in countries don't dissolve like civilizations of old. They reorganize political parties and governing factions, write new laws, and create news leadership position all under the same country name. The lives of the everyday citizen of said country are barely effected from the changes. Unless there is a huge event, like a massive war or other crippling circumstance the U.S. will be around for at least the rest of my lifetime and probably the lifetime of my children. The more logical scenario is that the countries of the world eventually politically merge into one world power, but that is an incredibly distant scenario.
Absolutely, just look at how great the USSR is doing today.
As for the question, it's impossible to say. No one thought that the USSR would've collapsed as soon and as suddenly as it did, if at all (the CIA actually thought it was headed for a golden age in the 80's).
If the US is to exist for another 50 years or more though I don't see how the status quo can remain. I really wouldn't be surprised if there was a constitutional convention in my lifetime.
Another Constitutional Convention would be interesting, to say the least.
